Ma'am I salute you. That took guts and nerves to not do it once but twice walk across the bridge

Oh! Thank you so much. It was utterly terrifying.

I love this video. Cat you did so good. Congrats. I enjoyed the history, scenery and hiking through tunnels - oh yeah! I’m in AZ but I might need to take a road trip to this area. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I didn’t feel like I did good. This was the HIGHLY edited version of my meltdown 😀😀. It’s well worth the hike.

We just did this hike - you did a great job telling the story. It terrified me! Couldn’t cross the Trestle.

Thanks Laura. Terrifying indeed. The hike itself is enough with all those tunnels! You did amazing 💖

It sure has. Cat just has a terrible fear of heights. It was a wonderful (if long) hike.

Amazing video!!! How long does this hike take? I heard its about 16 miles round trip and i was wondering if it was too hard for people who don’t hike often? Also, i was planning on going in a couple of weeks, would if be too hot?

Hi there. So glad you enjoyed it. This hike is 17 miles long, it is flat apart from a one mile section where you have to go around Tunnel eight (as you can see in the video). We would absolutely NOT recommend this for a beginner, nor would we recommend doing it in summer. There is no shade or water, and it could reach over 100° F. It took us 12 hours, but we stop a lot to record and take photos… also to rest. We also took a LONG time getting over the bridge and had lunch at the end. There are other bridges along this route that you will cross that are interesting if you just want to go out a little while and come back to your own personal limit. We did this hike in October

@@WhereTheyWander22 thank you very much for the reply. I’m not a total beginner and I’m in average shape I guess, when I was young I boxed for 7 years and kept in ok shape. Still, the heat is what I’m worried about. Thanks

A very entertaining video. How is the ride to the trailhead and the parking situation?
@WhereTheyWander223 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🍁🤎🍂. So glad you enjoyed it. The dirt road from Highway 8 is a little washboard from time to time. Parking just past the under pass is extremely limited. However, if you’re open minded you can park in the clothing optional resort for $5.

Wow. What an amazing hike. I’m way too scared of heights to do this from anything other than the comfort of my couch, but Jeez…. Exciting stuff. What distance did you cover on this one?
@WhereTheyWander223 жыл бұрын
Hi there. It was 17.5 miles in total.

Too many tunnels for me, the way you were on the gorge trestle is how I would have been inside every one of those tunnels (tho' your photos of the tunnels at the halfway point were very cool!) but those trains and the murals were cool! You know "Spreckles" sugar is from Monterey!
@WhereTheyWander223 жыл бұрын
Those tunnels were amazing and had our anxiety up a little. The artwork was incredible. They come out and spray them all Grey to start all over. That TRESTLE!!! Never again.

You are a lot braver than me!! I would never cross that!! Did you see any bats in the tunnels?
@WhereTheyWander223 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Pat. I certainly did not feel very brave at the time. Honestly, we saw absolutely no wildlife the entire hike. No bats, not even rabbits which are normally in abundance in the desert. We know that there are sometimes big horn sheep in that area too. But, no! Not one sighting of any wildlife

@@WhereTheyWander22 I love your adventures!! We had an adventure of our own which I know you would love. We just got back from Gallup, NM Balloon Festival. We also explored El Morro National Monument and the Petrified Forest Nat. Park. My husband got the app to track his steps causing him to changed into a hiker. Never in my 37 years of marriage have I seen this side of him!! He's ready for more hiking adventures!! Go figure!!!
