Mahomes has to keep winning but also start back with the dominant numbers! Brady is a 6x all-pro, 5x passing td leader, 4x passing yards leader, 2x passer rating leader and 1x led in completion %. Compare that to Mahomes being a 3x all-pro, 2x passing td leader, and 1x passing yards leader and thats it, never led in passer rating or comp%. @rcdesigns The reason i gave those stats is because the per game stats are dominated by all recent guys playing over the last 10 years. The game is played differently and called differently benefitting the qbs and wrs. Look at the guys in the top 10 passing yards per game for their career. Burrow, Luck, Stafford, Matt Ryan, Herbert, and Cousins are all TOP 10. We know all of these dudes are good but no where close to all time great. Same with passer rating where Burrow, Watson, Prescott, Tua, Goroppolo, and Cousins are also TOP 11 all time and Brady is 12th. So looking at the per game metrics and stats you would think these dudes are all hall of fame bound when we know this isn't the case. Seeing what you did against your peers and competition is the best way to compare across eras.

Mahomes got drafted to a perennial playoff team, by a winning head coach whose specialty offense, in a passing league, and for the first 5 years of his career, he had Tyreek Hill and Kelce, two of the best at their positions. If we’re just talking accolades, there were several who were comparable to Jordan (Wilt and Kareem for starters) and physically and athletically, their were several you could’ve been compared to Jordan (Vince, Kobe, Lebron etc)so the physical has to match the mental and intangible (to include the accolades) If that’s the case, Cam Newton, Josh Allen, and Lamar could make a case because they are physically freakier then Mahomes and Brady. When it comes to stats you could say Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers are comparable. But it has to be that rare combination of physical meeting the mental , along with the intangible (with accolades) Brady is like Larry Bird but even Larry knew he could never be Jordan because even though he had the mental, he could never have physical like Jordan aka Mahomes. I don’t believe he will surpass Brady due to his play style. He has thrived nearly exclusively by running around in the backfield in order to buy time for his receivers to get open on deep routes. This works for a young man, but doesn’t for someone in their mid 30s. He’s sadly going to start slowing down here in a few years, and his whole way of playing is going to be upended. Can he still be as great playing in the pocket? Without the threat of him running? I personally dont believe he can just because he has won most of his games on what seem like miracle plays where he buys time with his legs for receivers to get open. A dynamic quarterback is great but it’s not something that seems to have the same kind of longevity as the old school pocket quarterback. So far we really only have Steve young, mark brunell, cam newton, Steve McNair, Michael Vick and Russell Wilson to look at as examples of what happens when this playstyle gets older. With each of them we’ve seen a big drop off once they get into their mid 30s and their mobility has declined.

Tom Brady played against superior defensive formations. The Seahawks and the legion of boom, the Ravens with Ray Lewis, the bears with Urlacher, the Broncos with No Fly zone. There are so many defensive teams from the past three decades that used to cause havoc and mayhem both in the secondary and on the QBs. Mahomes is not playing in a defense-stacked era as it used to be. As well as several calls protecting QBs and WRs now, if he was placed in the same era he would be a Phillip Rivers by this date. Still good, but not great.

The Patriots had the same defense the year before Brady started they went 5-11 and were ranked 18. Their offense ranked top 10 in scoring more than the defense his entire career. You couldn't name a receiver until 2007. Belichick has a losing record without Brady and couldn't even get a coaching job when he was fired. Gronk only started in more than 11 games in 3 seasons. And you are going to have a top 10 defense if that's where all your assets are placed. If you are going to bring up Brady's defense then talk about how Mahomes has had a top 10 5 out of 7 seasons.

I don't really buy it on the players and coaches... Andy Reid was a Hall of Fame coach prior to Mahomes being there. The Chiefs were a serious playoff team prior to Mahomes even starting his run.Reid was going to the playoffs every year with Alex smith prior. So they Chiefs came pre built, pre stacked for him to start a run Belichik became a great coach through his time with Brady. Romeo didn't stay that long with the Patriots, he left after just 4 years. Spags has already been with this Team for 6. Kelce was already well into his hall of fame career by the time Mahomes started. Gronk didn't start until Bradys 10th season. Etc, etc. The big difference is that Brady built New England into a multi decade winner. The Chiefs were definitely already a championship caliber team for like 4 to 5 years prior to Mahomes 1st year.
