Your goat barn looks fabulous! That burning does make it look more finished. But, it'll just be Mario & Herc out there because your dad has Quiji spoiled & he is going to want to be in the camper with you! Your dad has a real soft spot for Quiji, but when you look at his sweet little goat face it's totally understandable. You 2 deserve an A+ for this build....

You two did a great job on the goat barn. If I would have done anything different I would have made the door opening about half as wide allowing just a little more wall to help block heavy winds on those cold winter nights.

Remember that you need straw for the bottom of the barn and a hay stand for feeding hay for the goats, also, a hanging feed buckets/ trays for grain. Also, straw will fit into Herk’s domed bed instead of the dog bee we bed. Walkers use that inside Zena’s domed bed!❤❤😅😊

WOW, THAT WAS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE!!! Doing "Shou Sugi Ban" to the Goat shelter looks absolutely fabulous! Not only does it look good, but seals the wood too! I'm loving it, Kyle and Shannon 💜❤💜 And Kyle, I have to say that your work is superior!! I've been a perfectionist most all of my life, so I completely understand you. You need to put a board or something to fasten the goats dishes inside the building especially when it rains. Just something to plan for before you bring goats home. Also the electrified fencing in before ground gets to hard to put stakes inground, plus clean where fencing is going so it doesn't short it out because of too much debris around bottom of fence.

The burn technique is a sealer. That's how they seal the wood in south America where it's such a wet country. Besides a sealer isn't safe for the animals if chew on the wood.

What an extremely sturdy AND beautiful shelter. The extra care taken to "get things right" is very noticeable. I like that a huge part is recycled pallets, saving money (even though it required a lot of patience and dedication to remove so many nails and preparing the boards)! The burning made it look awesome, too. Good teamwork, skill and hard work❣

You should seal the burnt wood so the look holds up other wise it'll start looking rough from weather in a year we clear coat all our burnt wood makings 😉

Y'all have done an amazing job on the goat barn! You are just starting your homesteading journey, and by building it so well, it will last a really long time. My suggestion is that you add on a little on the back or side of it for hay/feed storage so it's close by when winter really kicks in. To eliminate wasps, take a brown paper lunch bag, twist the top to make a stem leaving the bottom full and hang it on the ceiling. Wasps will not build a nest, they think that there is already one there. Yes, it really works.
