I just received my Arco about a month ago. I really do enjoy it, but the noise is annoying. I was really suprised by the amount of static, but it hasn't been a problem since I just tap the machine a few times. I like black, so the lack of color options wasn't a problem. What I love is that I can take it with me. You didn't show the optional travel bag which I purchased. That makes traveling with it and storing the handle nicer. The coffee is great. As someone who doesn't have access to a ton of coffee grinders, I don't have the ability to test like you do. What I can say is that I have enjoyed the range of coffee I can grind with it. Taken altogether, it is a great little grinder especially if you want travel with it but want an electric at home.

Kyle, in your review of the Arco you stated that Goat Story ‘nailed it’ when choosing the conical burr found in this grinder. As usual-and this is THE ONE THING THAT MAKES YOUR REVIEW RISE ABOVE ALL OTHER REVIEWERS’-you ‘nailed it’ again with this review. It’s very difficult to state in a videoed review that you ‘really like this grinder’ only to turn around almost in the same sentence and then integrate how bad it is because it’s noisy and than again, pan it because the base can ‘shift’ slightly which could cause havoc with the grinds but didn’t at least in your experience with your specific grinder. That’s ballsy my man but honest and different and refreshing! Thanks for keeping your reviews above so many of the others but not all. There are a few others who I know are friends of yours that have this same quality of their reviews-no sugarcoating. Now back to what I have to say about your review: After watching this review thrice, I finally came down to agreeing with you as to why the Arco is a good grinder except for the noise. I really liked how they show the user the number of revolutions have been made when dialing up or down from fine to coarse since it presents so many stepped numbers between these two settings. That said, however, I still would go with the Option-O LAGOM Mini grinder. Albeit quieter, Option-O does give me the choice of two burrs AND the option to purchase the other burr at a discounted price of $49. And now that I have studied these three, I must say that I might purchase the Mini, I am still planning to purchase the Option-O P64. To me, it’s still the best grinder for the home at the $1,750. price point and then purchase the Mini for travel or special occasions. Thanks again for another one of your great, unbiased reviews. So refreshing.

Lagom P64 pretty much nails price point. I have Unimodal burrs so pour-overs are super sweet, clarity, and fruitier. The next range in single dosing is 3000$ plus.. It does have 80-98 mm burrset but honestly between a 36000$ filter brewing optimised burrs in EG1 and 1800$ P64 SSP Unimodal, I wouldn't be able to tell single difference. So 1800 wins in price point.

The Arco is quieter than my sette 270. Even quieter when held off the bench( the morning grind). I like the range of grind ibrik to cold brew. Minimal space on bench. I do the spray on the beans to elevate static an it has been successful. All round I enjoy it. I do ibrik, espresso, pour over and cold brew - Sette and other previous grinders failed to do all. 👍👍👍👍

I’d be very curious to dig deeper into the hand vs electric grind difference. Something I have noticed with my arco is that the static is way less when hand grinding. So, naturally, retention is higher when electric grinding. No amount of tapping or shaking will release a certain amount of coffee from the burrs when electric grinding. I have deduced the shot time differences down to dose. When I grind electric, I dose .3-.5 grams more. Doing this, I am seeing almost identical outcomes in the cup. I am curious if it truly is finer when grinding by hand, I suppose the only way to know would be a particle size a analysis. Thanks for your review!

Thanks for this comparison. I bought the Arco as my first "professional" grinder (i.e. not your typical 30 bucks department store grinder) for filter coffee and bialetti coffee. The noise is annoying, but ok to me as my previous grinder was similarly loud with way worse results in grind. What does annoy me more is the fact that some beans tend to stick to the top chamber and you constantly have to tap the grinder to really grind all the beans. This is a known issue according to goat story's support. The static is also somewhat annoying, but manageable with an added drop of water. I never used the Niche, so I never had a better experience. Overall it fits really well in my daily routine and I love the slim design in our kitchen. I didn't know the Lagom Mini before this video, so I might have considered that one, but I don't regret buying the arco at all.

Got my ARCO last week. Yes, it is a little loud. I went from the timemore C2 to this so it's just nice not having to hand grind. The silver bean release cover is very unnecessary. it would have been nice if it was a grinds knocker like the Fellow Ode. I've only had the silver cover open and just tap on the top to get the static grounds out

Awesome review! I've been more and more interested in the hand/electric grinder combos. I've been pretty skeptical of this grinder, but other than the noise and the static, this actually seems like a pretty great value. Would love to see a comparison of this vs the Comandante+MadKat combo although that almost prices itself out of a fair comparison. Would be interested to see if the hand vs electric grinding RPM observation was consistent with the Comandante combo as well.

Really cool video, liked the blind cuping and the Arco review. On my side i think i have found my end game setup with my DF64 (SSP MP), Lagom mini (Moonshine) and the 1Zpresso K-Plus. I use the DF-64 and the K-Plus with my picopresso. Lagom and K-Plus for filter. However my ranking would go as the following 1) K-Plus, it just taste amazing, 2) DF-64 versatility love him since upgrading from the stock burr, 3) Lagom Mini. Maybe because the Lagom is new and not well tuned or seasoned but I'm finding that its a lot more on the "coarse" level than the "fine" level. What i mean is that i find myself using about 0.8-0.7 turn from my Zero point for pour over, their manual state otherwise (maybe its because of the moonshine). I decided on my Zero point when the burr are barely touching each other, maybe i should "change" it to when the burr are locked ? It was easy to find the zero point on the DF-64 and the K-Plus but it seem harder on the Lagom. Anyway, for my taste until now nothing beat the K-Plus :). I'm gonna try and post my "coffee corner hell" on the discord. I really need to clean up my space haha. The K-Plus is great on camping and the mini is also great combined with a power station. My mini however does not have the same marking as yours, i only have white dot no number on he grinderbut the gve me white round sticker so i can stick them and write my own numbers on them with a sharpie. (probably because of the moonshine) Would be cool to see how you found your zero and what setup are you using in a chart :) Each grinder is different but it would be a cool point of reference.

If I ground my coffee at home , put it in a jar and bring with me to work ( so it'll be like 2-3 hours later until I actually brew it) will the ground be too old , and not be able to make a good espresso with crema ?

That sound is a no go on the Arco when there are other good options. Still stuck between the Niche and Lagom. One thing I’d like to see is the speed of them in espressos. In my head the Niche turns out a typical 18g shot in like 25-30s without any hiccups and the Lagom gets through most beans fine but on the weak side in like 45-50s. Just can’t get over that it seems like it’s on the struggle side for an every day personal grinder.

An interesting view point your one of the few reviewers I've seen so far to like the Arco most feel the bad outweighs the good, this was especially ofninterest to me as this was one of my 3 way choices I made a while back that was to back the Arco, jump on a massive wait list for a Niche (those are much shorter now) or back the Kopi Deva, I made a real gamble and backed the Kopi Deva, which had no coffee history behind it al all, I'm so glad I did the difference in price here in the UK is around £450 for the Arco, £500 for the Niche and £564 for the Kopi Deva, for that I got 64mm flat super jolly burrs, variable rpm from pretty much zero to 1500 rpm and the build is stunning. But in the meantime I have also bought a Logom Mini and a Turin SP40 and I do like all 3 grinders. I thin Looking at the cost and quality I would have been disappointed with hhe Arco, one concer is the plastic test lock for attaching the grinder to the electric base to me it looks like that will wear badly with use and eventually be unable to hold the grinder in place, it is noisy which makes me feel the motor is underpowered. A great idea that during the time it has taken Goat Story to develop it had been overtaken by other grinders on tbe market like the Logom Mini and the SPTK-38G, I still think the best way to go is get separate hand grinders and electric ones. Anyway I've rambled on way too much.

Another super helpful video Kyle. I actually own these three grinders, although my Arco is yet to arrive so I haven’t been able to do the same comparative testing yet. The Arco was going to be my office/travel grinder option with the Niche staying as my home base grinder; but it took so long to deliver that I bought a Mini for the office and a Q2 for travel in the meantime! Now I’m trying to decide whether I’ll keep them all or not. I think I might end up just keeping the Arco as a larger capacity hand grinder for on the road; which seems like a bit of a waste, but I’m not sure I could put up with the noise? Perhaps I should sell it and buy a JMax? Great to see a blind cupping taste test, really appreciate the objectivity that it brings to your review. @@mnabbott2015 Hi - I'm really enjoying thanks. I think they delivered a great product which is a fantastic all-rounder, even if it doesn't excel particularly in one area. I slightly prefer the espresso I get from the Niche, and the filter I get from the Lagom Mini - but, if I was only allowed to keep a single grinder, it might well be the Arco, just because it does everything well. I've been using it for both espresso and filter at work most week days for the last 6 months or so and the build quality and performance have been everything I'd hoped for - and I've never managed to stall it yet (despite using some very light roasts). It does need a good RDT to help reduce static, and if I had one complaint it's that the espresso range is quite small (which isn't unique to this grinder) but stepped adjustment means that you occasionally want to adjust between steps. Having said that the workflow is excellent (not quite as good as the Niche, but better than the Mini) and the numbered dial is well implemented. I've not had much call to use it in the manual form yet, but have every reason to think it'll perform very well there too. Hope that helps!

@@cussyrichards6121 so I’ve only done a few cups with the sd40 since I just got it, but I’m getting some good tasting notes out of it and a bit more sweetness and body. The Df64 has more of a balanced taste overall but both tasted great. I think what I will eventually do with the df64 is change to the multipurpose burrs for more clarity so that there will be a more noticeable difference (since SSP HU burrs are more in between clarity and texture).

Well I guess I won't be trading in my Niche Zero. I do feel like Arco is made for a very specific person. I did wonder who needs a grinder that is electric and can be handgrinder. For me the Arco would be more compelling if it didn't sound like a $100 hoover vacuum. Sounds like the Arco has a nice set up burrs let's see it paired with a better motor.
