My absolute dream hunt is in Alaska! Growing up I use to sit in my great grandfather's back room, which was his library. On the lower shelves was children's book about Alaska, but books out of my reach were adventurous books of hunts and the gold rush in Alaska. He use to read to me some of those stories and about all his trips to Alaska. So my passion for Alaska runs deep in my veins. I would want to start my hunt off the night prior of experiencing the aurora borealis, and then I want the opportunity to hunt grizzly in the Talkeetna Mountains. I may not be in the best of shape to handle it, but boy...this would make my life all worth living!!

8-10 years ago I was backpacking the Maroon Bells Wilderness in Colorado. I had just come over the pass at 12,500' looking down on Snowmass Lake when around the bend 30 to 40 feet in front of me a Goat appears. It was a very narrow trail and with nowhere to go I just stood there. Staring at each other I looked upon one of the most impressive animals I believe I have ever encountered. The muscles of his chest and legs were unbelievable the dark eyes staring at me and the very impressive long black spikes that I was picturing running through my guts as he threw me off the mountain were something to behold. I don't know how long we stared at each other before he walked down hill off the trail a bit, walked around me, then got back up on the trail and wandered off. This encounter will never leave my memory and the desire to hunt one of these magnificent creatures will always be with me.

An Alaska moose hunt with my dad would be a dream come true. My favorite memories were made when he took me out on Florida whitetail youth hunts, and since then he always makes sure to go out of his way to find places for us to hunt together despite the distance between us and each of our busy lives. I have always wanted to be able to take him out the way he has done for me all these years, and I can’t think of a better way to do that than an Alaskan moose hunt.

At age 76, I finally got the elk hunt I dreamed about reading Outdoor Life when I was a kid. In Utah this fall shot a running 7x6 209 2/3 bull. Dropped him in his tracks with my Ruger 300 Win Mag left hand Hawkeye

My dad went to Canada twice to hunt moose. He harvested one his first trip. (Excellent venison roast!) My dream hunt? Honestly, I haven't thought about it for awhile now. Bagging a kudu, mountain goat, moose or something for the meat and horns (nice knife scales) sounds intriguing. But, just going to take photos also sounds nice. (Yes, I'm getting weird in my old age.)
