Agreed, I don’t see how he can be a S tier hunter (but I have been so wrong in the past). His cage only exists for him to be able to land a hit, and if the cooldown is high, it means he can only get a full hit every X seconds which means he has to hit each survivor 3 times (twice outside the cage and once inside)

ok he looks really fun and hard to fight against at first but! i have words to say 1. seer, gardener, puppeteer, gravekeeper - all of these characters counter him (theres probably more) seer's owl doesn't break the cage, but you can either: - force him to respect your ability and wait until it ends - force him into an attack recovery animation which during both you can destroy the cage 2. with detention he's probably going to work like clerk's recorded hit - it deals 0.5 damage, but deals one hit damage with detention 3. you need to rely on tight kite to kite him, but he's gonna be REALLY good with confined space because he's an anti transition hunter - for the rescuer i'd say u need to go to the chair immediately just in case. treat him like mad eyes overall looks like a hard tie hunter with a high potential to 3k which tbh im glad for. i didnt want him to be crazy overpowered but didnt want him to be weak either yk

I realised that,due to the fact that survivors outside of the cage can’t break it when a survivor is in the cage. Gate campers will kinda make their teammates suffer as goatman could just put a cage with them in it and the survivor heading to the exit gate can’t break through it.

Honestly, I would've liked it better if he could somehow interact and take advantage of the animals in the maps, such as the spider in church and the cat in everlasting or something. I thought since he is "goatman" and he is connected to animals that he would do something with them but this illusion cage thing is still fine lol (it would also give a reason why netease suddenly added them in the first place)

He's relying a lot on his ability because he only deals a chip damage that still triggers attack recovery outside of the cage but he's got a lot of potential. I don't think he'd be broken from what I saw but he's going to be strong for sure. We gotta remember you can still kite inside the cage it's not that small that you'd instantly get it everytime. If you have the distance and win the the teleporting mindgame you'd be fine and if you're someone like Seer or a good stunner or have pallet/window with a long wall to work with you can easily break out of the cage most of the time and force out another cage. If the hunter doesn't immediately put another cage you'd be fine because outside of cage he only deals chip damage. And putting down a cage would trigger a short animation so he wouldn't be able to swing right away, it may not sound like much but sometimes even that 1 sec delay matters. His own power is going to become his biggest weakness. Remember the hunter is not the only one who can tp loop inside the cage. That's how I feel about him

I'm sure you know why so it all comes down to the players who play him and how they use him but still at best he's probably a tie hunter. Too early to judge tho. We need more in-depth details on his cooldown and stuff first. We can guess from what we saw but ye let's just wait for the release.. things can change anyway.

I think against tanky survivors (Like Ada, Eli, Matthias etc.) he will have a hard time because he can only deal chip damage outside of the cages. But putting a cage to prevent rescues before half, getting dungeon or blocking off the exits can be pretty OP as a survivor main. It seems like he definitely relies on his abilities so it's interesting to say the least!

Can he blink inside of cages? Or, can he trap surv IN BETWEEN cages? I'm interested to see if he works well with warp, especially if you can warp from one cage to another cage. I wonder if he can also use the gates as shields to prevent harrasers from harassing [need a coord to get clipped shooting the cage rn...] I'd love to see how he would work in duos, too. Can't say for sure if his abilities may contradict his hunter duo or if he'd compliment them. [I'm excited for goatman gameplay chat, look at me yap...]

Andrew maybe possible but Priestess nope I doubt it. Inside the cage it's not like a solid wall so it won't be possible. Shouldn't be possible from outside the cage either. Doesn't feel like something they'd do for Priestess who has rechargable portals. Grave tho... I think he might be able to, it's not a rechargable skill/item and only he can use it unlike Priestess portal which anyone can go through.

​@@tedstar15 you're wrong about Keigan's recording. Her recording deals chip dmg without detention because it deals half the dmg of the original and not because it's the default value. That's why it's 50% damage if it's a detention recording, dealing half of 2x detention damage. It's kinda hard to explain. If you want to compare it we have Gamekeeper's hook. TS = Detention hit so if it follows the same logic as GK hook it should deal 1.5x damage. I'm talking about GK hook after he gets first presence ofc that's when his hook starts dealing chip damage and when it TS with that chip damage it's 1.5x damage.

He seems a lot like BQ in terms of chase style and ability cooldowns. The chip damage outside of the cage + the cage disappearing after a hit makes his chase way too dependent on his expensive ability though. And the survivor can even kite in a wide area inside his cage too, so it might not even help that much. I don’t really think he’ll be a great hunter, but still a niche trickster type of character

Would patroller be a good trait for him? If he needs survivors to be in the cages in order to do regular damage then it would be easier to stop the survivors and cage them. Peepers could also be a good trait since it slows down survivors and highlights them too. I don’t think blink would be necessary since you can just trap the survivor and teleport to the other side in order to catch up to them, smaller cages would also work in tight kiting areas I think.

One thing i think changes how i see him is how its clear that hitting an ability doesn't destroy the cage. Only an actual hit on a survivor. So bubbles, owl, shovel, stuff like that doesnt break the barrier but things like puppeteer should.

The usage of the walls will definitely be to prevent people from vaulting pallets and windows. I think he definitely has what it takes to be a win hunter. Imagine at the ruins area between statue and shack at hospital, there are so many windows, but you can definitely block their options, which would be great for anti-looping.

Welp here are great counters towards goatman: Considering you can break through the cells by cooling down his attack you can use survivors that resist a two hit, gravekeeper and seer has shown in the example is good against him. But another alternative is gardener considering her recall ability and mercenary despite that he takes hit like other survivors, again the hits slowly get to him so you can use that in advantage. You cannot get rid of the trash of identity v kreacher pierson, so thief is still another counter. Painter for his distractions, you might even get enough time to break through both cells if you get a speed buff(postman/dancer) Professor if you use his shield well. Acrobat if used well. If you main this hunter don't fear forward, fear batter still. You cannot get rid of Antiquarian nor Little girl. If you maneuver well barmaid and doctor might also be great against him. Good hunter counter against priestess tho.

This is a really interesting concept for a hunter, and I like it a lot more than something like opera singer. It will definitely be interesting to see how they will balance him. I can't wait to play him cause doing half a hit outside of cages is a huge nerf, but if you play it right a cage should mean a garunteed hit every time. I also can't wait to see what the S skin is gonna look like and how it's gonna change the look of the cage, if not then i'm sure an accessory would do that

bro he's not gonna get tight or transit kite ,he counter them both.While transition kite seems obvious to relizes ,not many people know how to counter tightkite with him, imagine if goatman spawn mutiple gates to block paths like at 0:43 it's almost feel like a madeye.If they tigh kite you in places like hospital or ruins , then just set the cage so that the outside face of the cage would block huge path of the kitting route, if they don;'t break it they have to go another way which then you can still sommon more cages(Your cage does not have a cd and if you summon another in a 3 sec window it cost less energy).LIke im scared dude , we all know how powerless it is getting blocked by fence of madeye, now imagine the same thing happen while goatman is catching up quickly toward you
