Glad you posted this. When a dealer fails this bad they need to be called out on it. Good job

Sorry to hear you got the shaft from this dealer. I wonder if they had a lousy reputation before you became a customer or have they become a product of our times? Regardless. His service seems to have become America’s standard for whatever needs service and whoever does the fixing. Over priced incompetence and a total who gives a crap attitude are almost the norm. And when questioned, they give you a, “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else …” But this certainly appears to be a “payback” for previous events… The reality is that after they get a bad reputation, and continually lose customers, later, you’ll hear them crying five states away after their business goes belly up. And then who knows how long and far you have to travel to another dealership… in the end, not only do they screw themselves, they also screw you. But on a calmer note, I always look forward for your videos, so keep ‘em coming. Be well, stay safe and thank you.

The guy that worked on your KTM has probably been promoted to his next level of incompetence! He might be the "Service Manager" by now! If so, he's busy hiring friends and family and going to stripper clubs for lunch! He is fully recovered from his weekend hang overs from about mid Wednesday. Trying to paint a picture here!

Ha! I hope they've got things corrected by now. I will go back to servicing the bikes myself. This was a one off.

A good reminder how lucky I am to have a local independent wrench to fiddle with all my machines. He also rides MX with us at the Moto Farm in the winter. Some of that stuff you shared is completely shocking!

Our local KTM independent wizard closed his doors a few years ago. Too bad. A lot of folks depended on him.

Yikes, I’ve had similar experiences with that stealership though not as egregious. Sadly from others as well. My guess is your bike stood around for days disassembled and screws were lost and probably different “tech’s” took part in destroying your bike. I would wonder if the valves were done right and would check the clearances if possible. I suppose that would mean replacing all the gaskets to do that. Something happened after Covid, it’s even harder now finding good service and integrity anymore.

I think you have to be careful these days. Everyone is having problems. This service was done a couple years ago.

about 4-5 years ago i used them for my scheduled services and the techs were great- however the parts people were horrible, telling me all the parts they couldnt get for my bike anymore 🤔 i called other dealers and they said no they could still get them and even had them.. the bike was 8 years old.
@azdesertdog

That's pretty odd. The feds require manufacturers make parts for a particular model for 10 years. Good thing for the interwebs. Most moto sites sell OEM parts.

I've had a similarly unfortunate experience at a local Piaggio shop. Over torqued, stripped and broken parts when I did my first service myself. What a PITA. I've since used a shop up in Chandler to do some extended work and, while better, they weren't perfect and argued with me on the correct volume of oil to add to the final drive. I had to show them the service bulletin to get them to acknowledge that I was right.

Sorry to hear that. I think it's more important that ever that every rider knows how to work on their bikes. Hopefully, we don't run into a dealer only issue like ABS or ECM issues.

Sorry to hear about your experience at GoAZ. This would infuriate me. I typically let them change my tires and haven't had any issues... yet. A gentleman who used to work there, Sonic Patterson, is now a General Manager at AEO powersports Mesa. He fled from GoAZ's BS and knows the KTM brand well. I'd recommend giving him a call. I try to do all my mechanical work at home because the knowledge and skills are invaluable. However, things like the desmodromic valve service require a professional and Ducati doesn't sell the tools. I'll take my business to Reparto Veloce when that time comes.

Ah that's where Sonic went. I've used AEO in Peoria and had great experiences on other bikes. Great point I'll give them a try next time. Thanks!

I have the best luck with my Aprilia dealer. I’ve always hesitated buying a Ducati or KTM because of the lack of local support.

Seems like the typical experience with GO AZ Scottsdale. I stopped using them over a year ago. Who was the service writer whom you dealt with at Scottsdale?

I am a Mechanic and I work from my own shop on my property. I cannot tell you how many times people brought me things that a dealer "mechanics" "fixed" or claimed needed to be "fixed" which did not need to be fixed or something they just had no clue what they were doing. THey hire guys that have never worked on anything in their life just becaise they took apat a carb or did a clutch they hire these guys with no actual back ground on anything in the field it always annoys me. I hate Dealers little wanna be mechanics. That is a huge petpeeve of mine missing/mismatched or stripped bolts. Not all dealers are bad but a lot of them are terrible, they hire morons,
@azdesertdog

Good to hear from you. Hope you are well. It's channels like yours that make it possible for people to work on their machines themselves. Keep up the great work. Unfortunately, manufacturers build in components that require dealer only tools/software. Hopefully we can get around that someday.

All my my bikes are over 20yrs old. Just saying. People working these days don't give a rats ___ about you. But they love your money right down to the 26cents on the end of your bill. Some, no a lot of the things you found wrong, over tightened and stripped and plastic tabs torn out. Those looked intentional. I mean how could someone be in charge and be that stupid. Thanks for sharing A.D.D. and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!

Oh man that really sucks. Like you I try to keep my channel lighthearted and positive but I dont think its being negative calling out these shady companies. Mistakes happen and if a company stands behind their mistake I am okay with them. A company who doesnt stand behind their mistakes I am not and I think any reasonable person feels the same way. The problem with most dealers is they wanna charge for a master mechanic fee but hire a shade tree mechanic to do the work.

I have to say the end up correcting the initial issues. Since this video they have reached out. However, there's enough wrong that shouldn't have been wrong in the first place.
