❤💪🏻 Curiosity: The film is also affected by the particular emotional situation of Argento, who had just separated from Marilù Tolo, with whom he had lived for a year after his divorce from his first wife Marisa Casale. Argento remembers that period as full of feverish creativity. Furthermore, it is on the set of the film that his relationship with Daria Nicolodi consolidates. Nicolodi herself recognizes that in the character of Gianna Brezzi, the journalist she plays in the film, there is a lot of her true character and a lot of the young Dario Argento when he was a journalist. The title of the film underwent several changes: to continue the faunal trend of Argento's previous works namely “The Bird with the Crystal Plumage”, “The Cat O’Nine Tails” and “Four Flies on Gray Velvet”, the film should have called “The Saber-Toothed Tiger” (but Argento claims he spread that title to “mock the press”), then the provisional title “Chipsiomega” appeared on a script (the result of combining the last three letters of the Greek alphabet ); finally, "Profondo rosso" was chosen given the great predominance of scarlet tones in the film, both for the blood and for choices of scenography and photography (just think for example of the opening scene in the theatre). The choice of Clara Calamai (one of the major divas of Italian cinema during the twenty years of fascism) to play the assassin is not accidental: Argento in fact wanted an older actress, once famous but later forgotten, partly due to her long absence from the screen, partly because it has gone out of fashion. In the scene in which Marc goes to Carlo's mother's house for the first time, the photos that she shows him are not fictitious images but are actually the real photographs of Clara Calamai, which portray her on the sets of her films in the 1930s and '40. "Profondo rosso" was the last film played by the actress before her definitive retirement from cinema. In the English version, Calamai's character is presented with the name of Marta (graphically anglicized in the credits as Martha), while in the Italian version the woman's first name is never mentioned (even in the credits the character he is simply referred to as Carlo's mother). The killer's gloved hands are actually the hands of Dario Argento, who had also used the same trick in other films. In 2007 “Profondo rosso” also became a theatrical musical, with the artistic supervision of Argento himself, set to music by Claudio Simonetti directed by Marco Calindri, with the actor and singer (discovered by Luciano Pavarotti) Michel Altieri playing the role by Marc Daly. The plot resumes the original version of the film. New electronic songs written by Simonetti for Altieri are also added, collected in a new soundtrack. From 2014 to 2023, the film was restored and distributed in theaters and on home video with the most modern technologies.

I did for this one so I'm "safe" (I only watched it first time 3 weeks ago), but I have not necessarily seen all the movies for which I do these videos.
