I love the fact that the Demon Lord getting defeated is so inconsequential in this story that it's basically mentioned as small talk, rather than being this huge event with singing and dancing in the streets. It shows just how unimportant something like that is in the frontier compared to slaying goblins. "Yeah, the demon lord's dead, but we're still out here getting attacked by goblins, so nothing has changed at all."

@Kwaii Not realy. following the Manga and i mean all three storylines. GS was always solo. Which nearly costs him his life in his first mission. A reason why his helmet looks like he does now. Original he had horns on it, but they got broken during a fight between goblins. somehow he managed to turn the tables and killed all of them. Spear Guy saw him once without his armor after one of the missions where he was with his current group and they had to fight a hob who was a rather nasty bugger. Later GS, spear guy and sword guy did work on a mission where they investigate an uprising in gargoyle attacks that comes from a tower. There they face a warlock who can't die. In the end GS had the idea to throw the warlock from the tower which was rather effective. During the whole time his current group (Priestess, Ranger, dwarf and Lizard) did some off time where they even get into a game of pseudo dungeons and dragons. Even Farmgirl joined that activity till GS returned. Not sure about the Backgrounds from Sword guy and Spear guy, but it seemed that Gs entered the mission as a favour for spear Guy. The mangas may explain it easier.

Yeah, I play DnD and one of the things that is written down about gnolls (a pretty low tier enemy) is that you have to kill every single one of them or the one you missed will come back with a war band. Because he only goes after goblins he uses relatively cheap/inexpensive gear and is usually covered/stained in mud filth and blood. We the viewer/reader know the reasons why he does it: in case he dies in a cave goblins won’t ever get any good loot off him, goblin noses are sensitive so he covers himself in filth etc to hide better but to the characters who don’t know him that well he’s just a weirdo in gross cheap gear unbecoming of a silver rank.

To most people, Goblin are pests, they were just pests for a long, LONG time, it’s just now they are starting to become smarter and stronger. Most people don’t know that. Fighting a single goblin is easy, but fighting a horde of them is the difficult part. Most people only fight a few goblins and leave it at that. GS know how dangerous Goblins can get if you let them be, he studied them throughly, so he decides to wear the cheapest armor he can find so the goblins won’t have anything valuable if he dies. As I said before, Goblins are still considered pests so to them, GS is a weirdo with an unhealthy obsession and shitty equipment that does not match his rank at all.

It also allows for a rather large range of motion, ...so much so that you can find videos of guys doing gymnastics in full plate.
