Study it early. Study Twelfth Night or Much Ado About Nothing if you want shenanigans. Study Midsummer's Night Dream if you want fantasy. Study the Merchant of Venice for injustice. Study Macbeth for a bloody tragedy. Study Othello for a psychopathic villain. There are lots of others as well. I haven't read all of the ones I'm recommending, I'm just recommending some to you so you might like his plays better next year.

He's my least favorite author, I hate everything about his work. I'm genuinely shocked how many people like him. I'm a comparative literature major, so I've read him in classes where everyone in the room liked him except for me. They give me the "you don't like him so you don't understand him" and "if you read more of his plays you'll see how great he is". I understand his plays just fine.
