Exactly what I was saying. God in today's world is nothing more than luck. When someone is praying for something or someone they are trying to improve their own or someone else's luck. Luck/randomess/entropy/undeterminism is something fundamental to our universe and no matter how hard we try we will never be able to predict an outcome with 100% certainty when dealing with living beings. I am atheist btw. Here's my logic. If you have absolute information about every particle in the universe (non-living) you can predict pretty much the entire universe with 100% certainty because if you know all the laws, you can for example use a supercomputer to calculate that. Then you might think why not living things right? Cause living things unlike non-living things are inherently unpredictable. What else is unpredictable in this universe? Quantum mechanics. Combine those two things together. Living things are basically objects using quantum mechanics and generating entropy through it. Our way of 'trying to control' entropy? Having laws to create order. Be it through a government or religion. Our way of 'trying to decrease entropy (meaning increasing the odds of something)'? Praying to 'god'. There is no god, just quantum mechanics, entropy, classical mechanics and the combination of those 3.

@@SahilP2648 Hmm, allow me to give you another perspective of God, prayer and unpredictability because I think your way of looking at it could potentially still resonate with what I am about to write. No TL;DR here. Also @Yours Truly you might find this cool too. I’ll be building on some of the points you made but most of all, scripture (before I lose you, I’m going to try to use scripture to illustrate timeless understandings, and not in the, “Repent and accept Jesus as your savior”, mumbo jumbo conventional Christians always comment on all over different social platforms with. You’re still here? Cool! If not, maybe someone else might read this, I just felt like writing this ;) ) Instead of seeing God as something external, someone out there in the heavens to be believed in, or as you put it,- seeing God as the “luck/randomness” factor (which actually is, in a certain way, a good way of looking at it, I’ll get into that later), how about seeing God as the timeless awareness that allows everything to be, and that allows us humans to be aware of ourselves, our surroundings, our hopes, dreams and imagination, our characteristics, our circumstances, our thoughts, etc. God seems to me to be the ever-present feeling of “I am”. You might black out tomorrow, wake up the next day after that and forget everything about your past. Everything. Your name, your career, your relationships, etc. But you’d still, guaranteed, still know that you are, you’d still have this awareness of “I am”. Now when I’m going to bring scripture into this, I want you to see the lens through which I’m seeing these verses. The Bible is a masterfully written psychological drama meant to illustrate what is unfolding within man. It could also be seen as an 2000+ year old illustration and back-then-collection of different texts, describing the understanding of consciousness at THAT time. Similar to how we today might describe our understanding of consciousness in the vein of everything being a simulation. Most of the bible should be read as parables and should NOT be read as literal historic fact, although I’m not saying that the bible is or isn’t historical, that’s for another debate. There are hints to this throughout the bible, for example Paul writes in letters to Galatians that “Abraham and his wives are symbolic and illustrates a powerful truth” (This one I’m paraphrasing but it’s there in Galatians to be read) Meaning, the exoteric (The man Abraham and his story) is a symbol for something esoteric (the deeper meaning). The most straight forward mention of the Bible being supposed to be read as parables is by Jesus and by the parable of the sower. The entirety of Matthew 13 explains that the bible has hidden meanings, not apparent to everyone. Matthew 13:23 “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it.” Back to the feeling of “I am”, scripture mentions this, yet is not often talked about. This is literally what the bible says is God’s name, when Moses asks God; who shall I say sent me? Exodus 3:14; “And God said unto Moses, “*I Am* That I Am.” And He said, “Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, ‘*I Am* hath sent me unto you.’” Exodus 3:15 “... This is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” - meaning, that if for example, our entire civilization were to be wiped out from the face of the earth, including all literature and all religions, and just a few survivors repopulated the earth and the memory of a bible or the word god were to fade into obscurity forever, the feeling of “I am” will still be factual “throughout all generations”. To wrap up my quick (not so seemingly quick lol) attempt to explain that God is within us and not an external entity ‘out there’, Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:16: “Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?” and 1 Corinthians 13:5: “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” ... And ofcourse the first chapter of John, which I’ll paraphrase: “In the beginning was the word, and the word was god. The word *became flesh and dwelt in us*”. Not outside of us, not in the heavens, not the mistranslation of “among us”, but *in us*. Cool, so now we can understand that God is within us, and in some sense, we are god but not the god. Psalm 82 confirms this, where it says “Ye are gods, sons of the most high”. Now to the point you made about prayer/luck/man’s attempt at making sense of God, quantum mechanics and unpredictability. I personally see quantum mechanics backing up ancient texts, and vice versa. Werner Heisenberg, among others, interpreted the mathematics of quantum mechanics to mean that reality doesn’t exist until observed. “The idea of an objective real world whose smallest parts exist objectively in the same sense as stones or trees exist, independently of whether or not we observe them ... is impossible”. Of course I’m aware of the fact that quantum mechanics and the true nature of reality is not agreed upon across the board, and that Werner Heisenberg proposed his view amongst many other people’s views, but I’m still so fascinated what insights ancient texts can bring to modern day science. (not just the Bible, there’s a tremendous amount of overlap across other ancient texts such as the Bhagadvadgita, namely the teachings of Maya / illusion and the divine play). Hebrews 11:1 and 11:3 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” - “By faith we understand that the universe was formed by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Now read the last verse from the lens of quantum mechanics (albeit simplified) and the lens of the meaning of God I tried my best to describe earlier. By faith (the assurance of what we do not see) we understand that the universe *was formed* by the word of God (The same word that dwells in us, that IS us, remember?), so that what is seen was not made of what was visible. You can interpret this last line in many ways, just like every other parable, but to me it seems to mean that reality (what is seen) doesn’t exist until the word of god (the imaginative/creative faculty, that which is not visible) observed it! Doesn’t that sound straight out of quantum mechanics? Now to wrap this up with prayer and unpredictability. Another way of looking at those verses from Hebrew is that if we’re made in the image of God and have his gift, aka the word, in us, then we have the literal same creative faculty that created the universe. The imagination of man. Seeing in your imagination, what is not visible, until it is seen and in your reality. Think about all the visionaries in the world, Elon Musk, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc. They literally envisioned something that was not yet visible but was eventually brought forth and became seen. This means, that they are exercising God’s gift. We are all doing it, for good or for bad. So “whatever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye have received them, and ye will” from Mark 11:24 can be taken literally and applied literally, and be a consistent “manifestation technique”, if you will. But it’s a matter of faith, in believing it to be so, by having “the assurance of what we do not see”. Prayer only becomes consistent when you pray believing AS god, NOT praying believing IN god, this is the true meaning of prayer. Why the unpredictability, then? Whatever things you ask for is a given as long as you hold the faith in the end result already being done. But here comes the “randomness” factor you described. “God’s ways are past finding out”, Romans 11:33, meaning it will unfold in a completely unpredictable manner. The end result will still be what you prayed / imagined either way. The how is not up to us. lmao damn this comment ended up craazy long but oh well. I just find it fascinating. Because it literally works 100% of the time, as Mark 11:24, Hebrews 11:1 states a timeless law literally being somewhat supported by quantum mechanics today. (although, again, I reaaaally simplified quantum mechanics in my comment, so that I could make more sense)

There is a pretty long, pre-20th century history of this kind of thinking, even in the 20th amd 21st century, though it's not quite as common. Truth is, you don't get our modern sciemtific understanding of the natural world without the critical role Christian scholarship played in its development. The problem with the absolute statement that "God doesn't exist because there is no scientific evidence if him" misunderstands who and what "God" is, as well as the limits amd purpose of the scientific method. The scientific method is meant as a tool to better understand the natural, material world, let's say everything within a box. The God of the Bible is not some phenomenological entity comfined to and defined by what is within the bounds of that limited box because he is a transcendant being, an entity, or rather the entity that is the source and essence of all being, ontologically speaking.

Yes, this is one way to approach it as voiced by this man. However even in the various ways of Christians there are more inclusive ways to view it; especially, in its esoteric aspect with mystics like Meister Echhart and others. Consider starting with this quote from one great man: "Can it be that what we call 'creation' or 'creature' is just another dimension of the 'uncreated'. Can it be that the 'uncreated' looked at from another, a relative view point, 'appears', only appears, to be 'created' due to relative vision." Can it be that what is really the One Unity of God when within Itself, it looks back at Itself from across a dissociated boundary as what we call 'a human being' only gives the appearance of a creator or a creation. What we are as human being are always looking at is the Tao or the uncreated Oneness and our relative vision gives the appearance of this Tao or One Uncreated as a creature and creation. From the point of view of Absolute Unity of God that includes the relative aspect of God, we can say the two are One because there can be no creation that is outside the One aside from whom there is no otherness. There is the appearance of otherness but when this appearance is seen from the Unity we might realize that any otherness of what we call a creature or creation is due to relative vision. This surely gives the appearance of a creature and creation yet if we are able to see from the Unity then what is it? In this sense we can say that the 'uncreated' looked at from a relative view point, 'appears', only appears, to be created due to relative vision. However it is only the realization of Unitive Vision that would allow us to see/know/grok this directly. Without that realization these words are just a mental exercise based some subtle concepts. One way to begin to get some sense of this is to start with the public words of Bernardo Kastrup right here on KZbin. One tweak to his framework might be needed. Your assumption that god is uninterested in his creation makes no logical sense. Why would an entity create without being fully invested in the thing it creates. Christian faith believes that god is so interested in creation that he does enter into it. Your presuppositions of what creation or simulation entails will lead you down faulty paths, the faiths presuppositions are its own and makes sense within its logical framework, the logical framework that best fits all aspects of reality will ultimately win out. Living out the logical framework of other systems I find is self defeating leading to nihilism.

What is the purpose of good and why does your god care whether we are good or not? The scriptures you dismiss provide the answers that you can only speculate about. The authors of the New Testament did know Jesus and left a written account. It’s a strange position to say we can’t know anything because our minds are required to interpret it. If you're speaking specifically of Cbristianity, then you would be incorrect. This present world and solar system, the natural wkrld in general is extremely important. What you're describing is a gnostic understanding of reality in which only the spiritual/ethereal world is good and all that matters, whereas the physical/material world is evil/unimportant. Sadly, there are Christians who think like this, but as I previously stated, that is a gnostic perversion of Christian thought, something against which the earliest Christians rigorously worked to disassociate themselves from. In reality, God made man to be stewards of the Earth, essentially to be his emissaries and representatives within creation. People don't actually "leave this world and go to heaven forever." At best, that's an overly simplistic, if not inaccurate understanding of actual Christian teaching. We do go to heaven, yes, but that's more of a temporary pitstop until the world in which we live here and now is restored, essentially renovated and made perfect again. Earth, or rather this world, solar system, etc, the natural world, is our home. There is a perfectly valid and legitimate Christian vasis for conservation if the natural world, because part of God's mandate to mankind is to master his creation and to be good stewards of the world that was given to us to cultivate.

Saying scientists had god as a big part of their life is a nonsense statement. Almost everyone had their local god as a big part of their life until the 20th century because that's when the common person really discovered that there were all these other competing gods that their next door neighbours believed in, which takes a lot of the steam out of the "mine is the 1 true God" idea. Also, until the 20th century most people were illiterate. Learning about the world and other ways that it works pushes supernatural explanations to the side. Saying scientists used to believe in gods more is the same as saying plumbers and electricians and trapeze artists used to believe in gods more. Everyone did.

i don't think us humans can accept the fact that we are mortal, above all animals and insects, when in fact those creatures could thrive without us but without them life would be unsurvivable, like 100 billion people before us we feel the need to be rewarded like we are the most important thing in the universe, how about this be kind love those around you work hard and make it good for the next generation like those before us, thats the reward, those of us alive right now it took us 13 billion years to get here, the wait of not being here or a part of life i'm willing to bet you never even noticed the before life, so why would the after be any different

God is a term we humans invented when we couldn’t explain certain things which are out of our cognitive abilities to understand. Imagine if God is love, which is the case in most religions, why would there be the option of killings and death in the universe? There shouldn’t be wild animals in the forest killing innocent plant eating animals. Remember that, if there is no concept of killing other beings, there’s no need for defending too. Cows and Rhinos don’t need a horn to kill or protect themselves. There’s clear evidence that nature intended to keep killing and defending purposefully. It all boils down to growth rate vs resources. Animals were needed by plants. For plants to exist they need animals to maintain the balance as well as an ecosystem that converts oxygen to carbon dioxide and vice versa. When there is an excess of animals eating plants, there’s another species of animal created to eat the herbivores animals. And this continues in the food chain. In the end it just shows that the universe is a self balancing entity. Mathematically the universe is a very long complex equation that adds higher order polynomial terms to balance.

Alexander Eisen Make no mistake. I’m not advocating against our laws, morals and values. They are good. My point is that both happiness and sadness need not exist. They are just patterns in our minds due to the chemicals being secreted based on the context. But yet they play a major role in creating the emotions. Today, most of our laws that exist are due to human emotions experienced from situations that are against one or more person. All of these serve a purpose, that all points to resource management. Imagine if we designed an operating system where if one process eats up more Physical Memory available in the system the next process tries to kill the former. And then capitalism vs communism debate starts in computers too. Our rules in an Operating System design are to some extent neat and cares for each process to go about their individual duties. That’s a system where most of the time the processes living during the time are in harmony with each other. My question is that why the Universe was not created that way by so called God entity?
@TNTsundar
@TNTsundar 4 жыл бұрын
Alexander Eisen Morals are good for the society. Not for an individual who wants to gain from others’ disadvantage. Well it rations the resources at best, if laws are followed right. In pre-medieval times, yes murdering would have been considered as good when everyone had their own laws and they did not align well. The equation was not able to balance itself unless negative terms are added (murder, genocide, etc). So the correct vs incorrect debate depends on the perspectives really.

The mind is a virtual reality process, the mind is a self virtual programming process. we generate even virtual reality scenarios. each person has a self perception in that virtual reality of our mind because is contained inside a robotic machinery, which is able to create virtual models. what we see what we hear is a virtual representation of data. there is no difference between sonar perception of a bat or eyes visual perception, both are virtual representations. we are robots, how a robot thinks? we are biologically programmed robots so, our process of learning has passed from stages, even they seems crazy and magical at certain stage. as more far matches our data we process from universe, more magical and crazy looks. so we will take long to realize. Anything that could say by a person in the past was nothing more clear than now. and does not give us an answer. We have better picture of the reality now than before. So any person from the past is not going to give us a better answer that clarifies anything. we known nothing before and we still continue knowing nothing talking in those terms of existence. Talk about God is to be talking not about God, but talking about a program of virtual reality. the problem is about ignoring that this idea is coming from inside the virtual reality. The virtual reality disappears when there is not a data machinery to put it running. there was no virtual reality with the beginning of the universe and there was not till the life appears. we are not going to give answer to the existence, we just can keep going of knowing the mysteries of the Universe. The answers are beyond our imagination. but of course nothing to be with the virtual idea of God. So leave this God story, about creation, because it is even dangerous. Still there are people who believe in those fairy tales. We use our minds to manage our life and the history has demonstrated how dangerous are those virtual programs of God realities. So how long is going to take humanity to realize that God is a virtual creation of our mind? simple as that? and how long some people is going to continue manipulating other using this ancient program Our mind makes a self virtual programming with concepts with ideas with meanings in the virtual environment the mind exists, creating virtual models, virtual structures. Even is not the same as software programming, our mind operates as self virtual programmer if you want to create God to give sense to your life or to have hope for afterlife, this is OK. the information based in more real data has not more meaning than the "magical" reality information. one day, my friend told me she was made by accident. I think I was 17. So I told her, what lucky accident, and what if she did not born?, she said nothing would happen, just she would not been born nothing else. I was giving meaning to her entity, something that for the universe has not meaning. Same for the humanity. if we do not exist, nothing happen. does not care to the universe. We are no more center than another form of life. but I am biologically programmed to survive, to have feelings, and I can accept that, create a virtual programming based on that programming models where I want to continue living even does not make any sense. knowing more the universe we are not more closer to the truth, it is just an option. but of course it has consequences.

Ugh, that was, well, stale, to say the least. _"I think we would know very little about WHO God is."_ He then proceeds to talk about Jesus Christ. Why Jesus specifically? What about all the other gods, or in Jesus' case, demigods that came before? Also, isn't Jesus the supposed Son of God? Even if there were a hyper-intelligence responsible for the creation of the Universe, it wouldn't be the petty and jealous, emotionally unstable, narcissistic crybaby described in Abrahamic religion.

Say To your self look up don't look down because he always watches over us God the Father of all Creation please I want to believe in you and he will reveal himself to you. Any thing you do in life is a choice by our own free will as all people would say . If you had the choice to wake up and go do something in life like choosing to surf everyday and dedicate your time and love would you do it ? Or would you drop out finding out It wasn't good enough for you ? You know other people surf and many people enjoy it and get the sensation of freedom and hsppyness when doing so . His statement that Jesus is “one” with God (Joh. 10:30) - in the Trinitarian sense - turns out to be unbiblical, as this same word (εἷς, μία, ἕν - Strong’s 1520) is used to describe the “unity” of man and woman (Eph. 5:31), Apollos and Paul (1. Kor. 3:8), Greeks and Jews (Gal. 3:28), Jesus and his disciples (Joh. 17:11,21,22) etc. - which are obviously *not “one” in the sense of an entity/person, but “one” in the sense of their beliefs, values, goals, will.* Numerous other statements by Jesus make it clear what he meant by the statement from John 10:30. His statement about God's existence outside of our created universe is very well made: *“God is **_not_** an entity **_within the creation, within the universe._** God ist the creator of it all.* (...) [Genesis is] not about telling us _how_ God created the world, it’s about telling (…) _that_ God created the world.“
