How do u measure cheerful giving? I bet many of you think giving God any amount that you wish to is cheerful giving. Our Lord Jesus Christ simplified it in Luke 6:38 and if you're a true believer that understands grace, your giving will be more than 10% not under but above 10 percent. Dr Myles is right Tithe is more than money. it is a good start for giving cheerfully. Stop giving your church below your capabilities.

@@victornikora2857Tithing is an OT principle as much as animal sacrificing is. We’re talking pre-Jesus’ death. Paul (post-Jesus’ resurrection) never talked of tithing. He stressed GIVING. When Jesus mentioned tithing, it was BEFORE the new covenant. Seeing Jesus was in the process of establishing the new covenant while living in the old one, he tithed. There is no mandatory stipulation for believers to tithe under the new covenant.

Tithing or non tithing doesn't mean God will bless or curse you. He only desires a cheerful giver. You can give more than 10% or less, depending on how you're blessed and what you believe. God blesses us because He is good, not because we do good to Him

Stick to Scripture. Here is something I put together because of God's love and mercy towards all of us. The Old Covenant Tithe Malachi 3:10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be "food" in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure. Preachers always leave out the very next scripture. Verse 11. I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the "fruits" of your 'soil', and your "vine" in the 'field' shall not fail to 'bear', says the LORD of hosts. When we add verse 11. we see that God will bless our work, our labor and it will produce a harvest. Are you a Levite? Do you have a Synagogue? A Temple? Do you not know that "you" are a Temple for the Holy Spirit? Do I tithe to myself since I am a Temple for the Holy Spirit? The Tithe ended when the Law was Fulfilled. The Pharisees/Orthodox Jews, crucified Jesus because they reject Him as their Messiah. The torture and crucifixion happened During the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Mark 14:12 Jesus became sin, even a curse because He was nailed to a tree. Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the 'curse' of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it has been written: "Cursed is everyone hanging on a tree". Berean Literal Bible I hope that your church actually helps the poor with food and necessities. People can donate/give an offering but, the tithe has ended. In Acts 4:32-35 everyone gave to the "apostles" and it was divided among everyone so there would be no lack among any of them. I am "not" saying to sell your property and give to an apostle. I am not an apostle, even though God has answered my prayers and I have seen miracles and situations change because of those prayers. Of course, my prayers are not always answered because they must line up with God's will. Anyone who calls themself an apostle must demonstrate signs, wonders and miracles on a daily basis. 2 Corinthians 12:12 The true marks of an apostle-signs, wonders, and miracles-were performed among you with great perseverance. Berean Standard Bible There are many who claim to be apostles and receive the tithe, gifts and offerings. Are the proceeds being distributed among the members of the congregation? I see rich pastors with brand new suits and cars... and their congregation is poor. They will be held accountable for their actions, as we all will be, at the Judgement. Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has "done". From my readings and practice, tithing is one of the avenues of expressing our love to God and to His work/workmen. You can't love without giving your time, treasure and talent! How much you give should be predetermined not of compulsion but of self persuasion. The act is more important than the name its called. Old testament called it tithing, new testament called it giving to the needs of the saints and every good work. Please read Deut 26:12-13 for guidance on how to distribute. You will never be the same again. If you have no work, there won't be room to receive the full blessings of tithing.

Tithing and all other laws rituals and ceremonies were fulfilled in Christ and nailer to the cross with him (Colossians 2) and is accounted to us as righteousness, then right before he died he said Father it is finished. Jesus fulfilled everything at cross including tithing but we're still told that we need to do it as if what Jesus did wasn't good enough

@bluebronx2000 Jesus said that because he had not been to the cross yet they were still under the law at that time and I'm not trying to reason my way out of anything, I simply understand and believe that when Jesus went to the cross every debt, sin and iniquity was paid by his blood and every law was fulfilled and i don't think that he somehow just happened to forget about tithing

We never have to give tithes to get to heaven. What Dr. Munroe was speaking about was the discipline of placing God in front of all that you have and all that you do. That's the tithe. Final note: The tithe came before the law. Read it at Genesis 14:18-20 where Abraham gave a tithe. Blessings...

Matt. 23:23 and Hebrews 7 are Scriptures about tithing in the New Testament. Jesus said tithing was necessary along with the weightier matters of the Law. Jesus went to the Cross and fulfilled everything, yes; but if you can't trust him with 10% for your income, can you trust for eternal salvation? The money test is the least of the faith tests.

Tithing, (giving) is planting seeds of increase that secures favor. Tithing is an act of acknowledgement of gratitude that's why we give 10% or more of our income because we are acknowledging God that He makes all things possible and we are thankful for that. The world system has to do with buying and selling, the kingdom system has to do with sowing and reaping. If you don't put God first and tithe at least 10% then you sow seeds of devour (greed) and you will reap poverty or lack. I tithed all my income for over 10 years and in just months from now I will reap a harvest of more than enough because a man reaps what he sows. God's word will not return to Him void.

Pray for God's guidance and may you be led to Biblical teachers that rightly divide the Word of Truth and not teachers who teach a different gospel like Word Faith Prosperity (2 Corinthians 11:4). @@rayj.9568 Actually it was a stranger who told me that I was one of the giants, it was at a job I was working at back in 2005. The Holy Spirit spoke to him about me and he revealed it to me and God confirmed it with His presence. It's called prophecy. I didn't understand what he meant back then but the Holy Spirit showed me more in depth over the years. I've already been humbled by God and also humbled myself before Him as well. Even at this very moment I live in a shelter for a year now but soon to be released. This is serious business to God.

God has me the same exact way for 20 years now but He wants to change that this season. Paul who wrote so many letters in the NT, never mentions nor emphasizes the believers to tithe. The most important thing for the believers is to be holy, righteous, and share the Gospel to the people who are very much in need of Christ. This is what pleases Christ.

Sure He does. It's a staple of obedience. He needs us to know how he blesses us for our obedience. He of course is the one who owns the world and everything in it but it's not for him perse, but for our growth and the growth of the Kingdom. Plus all the other things attached to it. Like helping the believer manage their money. Blessing someone who can't afford food, or who's lights are turned off any amount of ways to bless someone.

Isn't tithing for Israel just as male circumcision? To the best of my knowledge of scripture Christians are not supposed to practice tithing. We are encouraged to give to support God's work and ministers as we wish especially generously but calling it and making it mandatory as tithe is not proper.

"Tithing has nothing to do with giving God money" is a true statement. Money wasn't accepted as a biblical, systematic (required) tithe deliverable and it's literally impossible to "give God money". Consumable items from within Israel were accepted as required tithe deliverables, not money. Neither God nor Jesus ever asked anyone for their money. Today's version of "tithing" carries no biblical precedent.
