First, I'd like to clarify that I'm not a christian, and I'm not trying to "convert" anyone, having this said, God isn't telling Satan who he can or should kill, he's only telling him he cannot kill Job, because that's the whole point of the "bet", if Job doesn't survive, how can he prove his faithfulness to God. The devil has to leave God's presence to execute these acts because, unlike God, he's not omnipresent, Satan, however, is described in other parts of the Bible, as being able to perform miracles, similar to those performed by God himself, including, but not limited to, raining fire. Furthermore, Satan would get no benefit from straight out killing people, he's more like a virus, he needs to corrupt them, in order for them to corrupt others, something that comes in handy, since he can't be everywhere at all times, but he needs to keep them alive for long enough, so that their souls are lost. Finally, the fact that the alleged evidence is circumstantial, doesn't get him off the hook, ask any lawyer, and they'd tell you, that circumstantial evidence, can be more than enough to get a conviction.

The Book of Job i such an interesting chapter. It is arguably the oldest story of all the collected stories in the Bible. So if we imagine we have never heard of Satan, and if this would be the first time we read the passage first mentioning him (Job 1:6), which reads: _"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them."_ Then the natural assumption would be that Satan is one of these sons of God. Of course if you read the same story in the Tanakh it's more clear, that that is actually the case. Since Satan is derived from ha-satan (the accuser, the adversary), which is the title of this particular son of God. Whose job it is to play a sort of devil's advocate (pun intended), morally challenging one and asking the umpopular questions, and also being a prosecutor and destroyer if this is what the Lord wills him to do. You could even wrap that back up in more Christian narrative and argue that this, what we see here, is actually Satan pre-fall (from Heaven).

In all honesty, what kind of person would opt to worship a good that neglected their needs or merely gave them the bare minimum for survival? Of course, it makes sense that Job would love a "generous" god. One reason I'm no longer religious is that I now view god's generosity and protection as arbitrary and even biased. Translate. Inside of Job chapter 1:4-5 it would state that they were worshiping their birthdays on the day they were killed. And job prayed for them, "When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom."(NIV). This means that they weren't supposed to be worshiping their birthdays(Even to this day we shouldn't be), "This was Job's regular custom" that means it wasn't a 1 time deal it was consistent sin. And we know that God is merciful and slow to anger, but if you keep on sinning don't expect to live long and don't expect to make it into heaven. And God decided it was time for them to die whether for their sin or any other reason we don't have at the moment, so we can't blame it on God they were disobedient children just like now if you have a disobedient child you are going to do things punish them, sometimes grounding them, spanking them or taking something away. The lesson is always be found doing the right thing and don't test God.

Satan is just a title given to testing angels. In the old testament satan is a plural word, where as in the new testament it is singular. So the old testament 'satan' is many, and as they set in the presence of god, and do his bidding, one could argue they are just his angels of testing and prosecution. There are no sides by biblical standards, due to satan just being a title. This was a fun video to watch and an even more fun comments section. Truly you see the hundreds of differing viewpoints and arguments that do make you think and it has made me realize something quite important. Until God and Satan appears one day in front of all of us at the same time and we agree that we're not seeing a dinosaur beside Batman beside Superman that we are so never getting the full and correct picture and so we must subsist on the pictures dead people are supplying and people today are having to interpret in their myriad little ways. @@meti326 yeah, but the Bible also says that after the Armageddon, the Beast and the false Prophet will be cast into a lake of fire (AKA: hell), so, how can the devil already be in hell? The Devil was in that council because, up to that point, he represented Earth, as he "earned" it by tricking Adam and Eve sin. The sacrifice of Jesus, is what returns representation of the Earth, back to God, as that was the price to pay. So, neither before or after this story, there is no hell.

Those children who survived would grow up to be of an age where they were morally accountable. All cultures have some sense of right and wrong, and, since God is a perfect judge, what happened to them after death would reflect their exact moral state.
