When God of War 4 came out, I played it with only knowing that Kratos sold his soul to Ares and wiped out the gods of his home realm. Watching the cutscenes of God of War 4 after finding every thing out hits so differently now that I understand every thing he’s been through. Going from brutal and driven by betrayal to a father who regrets his old ways and looks out for his son and the rage he inherited so he didn’t make the same mistakes. It’s beautiful.

Replaying the game will help you understand a lot of things: 1. It's possible Laufey found Kratos and helped him recover starting life anew. 2. After Laufey died, the protection she left to protect her family from the Aesir had vanished, this explains why Baldur was sent immediately after, Odin must have discovered that Laufey, the giant was hiding in the forest. At this point, you should understand that Baldur is looking for Laufey to find a way to Jothunheim but unknown to him, Laufey is dead. 3. Odin must be fully aware of whom Kratos is, he must have already explained it to Baldur, Thor, and his sons which is why Baldur is sarcastically referring to Kratos and his 'kinds'- geek gods. That made much more sense after Freya told Kratos that she knew all along that he was a god. Godhood is very hard to hide from one god to another. 4. Before the final fight with Baldur, He mentions something such as 'Have you any idea, any idea what you've cost me" This is referring to Kratos destroying the gate to Jothunheim. Odin promised Baldur he'd find a cure to his invulnerability which also prevents him from feeling if he's able to extract information from Laufey or her family. Unknown to him only Mimir is able to read Tyr's tablet and find a breach to reach the realm of the giant.

Currently replaying all the god of war games before I play the newest one. The story is just as amazing to me as the first time I played the game. All the great memories and the feeling that you wanted to help kratos get his revenge against those who tried to break him. I’m really looking forward to the new game and it’s addition to an already great story!

A button-mashing sequence to push the frightened ghost of your daughter off of you so you can reluctantly go back to being a murder machine to save the world (including your daughter's ghost, which is the only part of the world you actually care about saving at this point.) *And you have to do it three times.* That has GOT to be as bad as Video Game Cruelty can possibly get. And to think that I thought having to pull the trigger on The Boss at the end of Snake Eater was rough. POOR CALLIOPE! On a lighter note, anyone else like to think that someday, after Kratos has told him more of his life story, Atreus might sneak his way into Elysium some time to meet his big sister? I think that would be heartwarming as heck.

I'm just confused about one thing, this is technically the Greek pantheon, yet in later games they refer to Apollo as Helios and Artemis as eos, and they never even featured the other gods, such as Artemis, Dionysus, pan etc. Why?
