Everybody freak out and jumped in pure joy when the Blades of Chaos appeared. But if you listen to the tone of the song, and Krato's reaction, you realize that it is one of the saddest moments in the game. Kratos knows that these Blades are a representation that he was made to be a monster. And he would never be able to escape from that. Doesn’t matter how far he goes from Greece or whatever another place... someone will always make him comeback to his monster side. Kratos is doomed.

That one small 'I know.' For a single moment Kratos actually sounds broken, actually sounds like despondent and just done. Only to immediately continue and show that no matter the pain of his past, no matter the burden, he will move forward, because he has something, someone, to move forward for. Not just for revenge, not just out of anger, but out of love. Yeah, he may still be a monster, he may always be one, but he's the papa bear kind of monster. The kind that hunts you for hunting what he loves and cares for, no matter what it means for himself. Amazing props to Christopher Judge for his acting here. He killed it.

I, I almost cried at this scene, it was deep. He used the blades to spill his own family's blood, and now he used it to save his son. The "I know" had me in tears, accepting that he is infact a monster. A monster that slayed his family, and a monster that saved his son. He accepted that whenever he goes, whenever someone challenges him, enrages him, He will always become a monster. But a different monster, not a ruthless monster, he became better as he grew old, regained more control. I love this game. The best game for me.

This entire game changed me. That is not hyperbole. My past self and my current self are, though not quite the extreme exaggeration that is depicted in the God of War games, a thematic parallel to Kratos. I spent so much time angry and adrift when I was younger, and I hurt a lot of people, burned a lot of bridges, and did nothing to help myself fundamentally. Those things still haunt me now, even as I struggle to change and be better. When I saw my son start mimicking the bad traits and habits I still fight with, I had to really stop and reassess myself, and swear on my life to be so much more than I am, if for no other reason than to ensure that I can make my son better than I could ever hope to be. This moment was one of the most powerful moments I've ever seen in any form of media. Kratos has to feel the full physical weight of his sins, confront his past, and understand that what he was will never go away. Much the same that I will likely always carry guilt for the worst that I can be, I can still live with it knowing that I can use that shame and pain to ensure that I won't ever be that again. This game is not just a great game, but it is an important one. It showed me, and I like to believe the same of a lot of people my age, what it means to be better as a man, as a person, and most importantly, as a father.

I actually really like the behind the scenes version where Christopher Judge completely breaks in his voice saying "I know" and sheds a freakin tear. When he just walks straight through her after that line... damn that's cold. Kratos has always been a badass, but he set himself apart by being the only God who could conquer Kratos himself, overcoming his own demons and past mistakes. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't played the previous games to go do so, it makes this line just that much more impactful.

"I know. But I am your monster no longer." This is the moment where everything Kratos did came full circle. He accepts his past. He knows he cannot change his past, nor will the gods ever forgive his sins. He left a trail of blood and destruction for the sake of petty revenge and nearly destroyed the world because of it. But he is no longer a pawn of the gods. The blades used to kill his family instead will be used to protect his family. He is a monster, but he is his own monster.
@crackerjaq9974 Жыл бұрын
God I fucking LOVE Kratos's voice in this scene. The whole game, its been gruff, and old, and tired, and (with absolutely no disrespect to Judge) kind've generic "mean old stoic man" voice. Kratos was tired and grieving, and long past a life of yelling his lungs out at those that wronged him. But when he puts the blades on again, and his past comes back to haunt him once more, and as he feels the Greek Fire well up in the blades again after so long, the familiar heat he's long hoped he would never feel again, he's brought right back to his Deicidal Genocide. For just one line, for one brief moment, his visceral anger, his violent wrath, and every single ounce of venom he holds for the gods comes rushing back, and he starts to sound not like Kratos the Stoic, Husband of Laufey, father of Atreus, but Kratos the Ashen, Son of Zeus, Ghost of Sparta. Idk if Judge did that on purpose, but when I heard his voice slightly slip into his old one, I legit almost flew out of my seat. (The line I refer to was "I am your monster no longer," if anyone was confused.

If you think about, Athena is the most vile and disgusting character in the entire God of War franchise, rivaling Zeus. She fueled and manipulated Kratos’ rage and bloodlust and used him as her puppet to destroy the Gods in order to pursue her agenda in obtaining absolute power. She sat back and watched as Kratos brutally murder every member of the Greek Pantheon, her OWN family, causing the deaths of millions of mortals without remorse or shedding a tear. I personally think she found amusement in Kratos causing so much destruction. Also, what I find ironic is that in the earlier games Athena used to be the most honorable and benevolent of the Gods. Seeing her in this stage exemplifies just how far she has fallen and just adds to the total epicness of this cutscene. Kratos is a monster but Athena is a much bigger one.

this scene is very strong in terms of emotions for fans like us who followed every journey of kratos all along & with connecting with him we realise how much kratos changed & how much painfull of a deal to put those blades on his hands i still know when i first see the scene i legitimatelly got connected & also kinda get emotional & feeling bad ass because its kratos so its a badass roller coaster ride which is never gonna stop.

What i absolutely love about this game, is how relatable Kratos is(i had/have problems with controlling my anger). He is terrified of the thought of losing control, because that would mean losing everything. And he's constantly torn over his own past and mistakes, only coming to terms with them by the end of the game. An incredible character development.

That os good to know that its a video game that makes people who play it get a relationship with the character. I also have had a troubled past and I totally relate to Cratos and the other people who played the game. This games makes you think about life and other games make the players violent.🤘🏿🤙🏿✊🏿👊🏿💪🏿 stay strong my friends..

@@bigchopstherealoggamer1280 I'd say that half true. Violence is inside us. We have to learn to control it. It isn't because of any hobby.

This one line, better than EACH AND EVERY SINGLE DIALOGUE in the Last of us part I

I agree with you somewhat. But you cant deny that The Last of Us Part 1 had its share of moments as well. Cant say the same for Part 2.

@@ankitagarwal10101 I'm actually doing a playthrough of the game on my youtube channel. Find out PBP what I think of the game. Keep in mind, I am legally blind (very low vision) so I do play it with accessibility features.

Nobody's commenting on this, but that last line he delivers to Athena, you can hear a bit of the old Kratos in his voice. That's what really makes this scene for me man.

As a 47 year old man I have been throughout the world wondering about the injustice of life and wisdom and moral principles that we all seek, but when she said that I also was like wtf. No man wants his father hood questioned
