For people wondering what was going on when Midas touched the lava: In the original myth, Dionysus told Midas to go to the river styx and wash his hands in the water, and his curse would be lifted. However, Midas is on the brink of starving and dehydration and is unable to think clearly. He hallucinates the lava is the river styx

Running around in a shallow pool kinda kills the purpose of becoming invisible, he has a shield but he doesn’t use it to block Kratos’s attacks, he thought for some reason that he should try to kill Kratos, the guy that pretty much made god killing a profession, even if the sisters of fate didn’t directly demand it of him, and he claimed to be trapped despite a large opening with some ledges to climb over. KRATOS: "There was a man, a king, whose lust for wealth led him to strike a deal with the Gods, so that anything he touched would turn into gold if he wished so." ATREUS: "Wow, really?" KRATOS: "Yes, and yet, the king was not satisfied, for despite being able to attain more wealth than any mortal man could ever dream of, he could only think of the wealth that would be lost to him after his life had come to an end." ATREUS: "But riches aren't worth anything after you die. Couldn't he see that?" KRATOS: "Perhaps he was too blind to see , or he saw it too clearly, and feared it. Either way, in order to avoid this fate, he struck an even bigger bargain and was gifted with immortality, so that he could add to his riches for all eternity." ATREUS: "You'd think that being born a king, who has so much already, he wouldn't turn out quite so greedy." KRATOS: "Even kings can suffer from a commoners weakness, though he was not completely devoid of humanity, for the only thing that outwieighed his love of gold was the love for his daughter, Marigold." ATREUS: "He named her MariGOLD? Talk about obsessed!" KRATOS: "An obsession that would cost him, for the god that had given him his ability saw his second wish as an act of ingratitude, and changed the rules of it. Instead of turning only the things he wanted into gold, now EVERYTHING that came in contact with him would turn. He could not touch his food or drink without it turning into treasure for his treasury." ATREUS: "But he was still immortal, right? Even if he could not eat or drink, he could never die, right?" KRATOS: "He could still feel the hunger and thirst, and since life loses it's appeal if you can no longer enjoy it's pleasures, the king grew depressed. The only one to comfort was his daughter, who thought she could ease his suffering by feeding him. However, in a thoughtless moment, she cupped his chin in her hand with a loving gesture when trying to give him a drink of water, and was herself turned into a golden statue in front of his very eyes." ATREUS: "... That is so sad. His daughter was innocent and he loved her, and yet she died for his mistakes." KRATOS: "Hm..." ATREUS: "What happened to the king afterwards?" KRATOS: "Unable live with his mistakes, and unable to take his life and be free of his suffering, the king lost his mind to grief and wandered in regions unknown and perilous, hoping that the gods would one day forgive him and let him cross the river Styx." ATREUS: "Did they?" KRATOS: "No. Instead he was freed as he came across a man much like himself, cursed and manipulated by the gods. Having heard of the king's story, the man threw him into a different river, which turned the river into solid gold and encased the king, trapping his corpse in there forever." ATREUS: "...Why did the man throw him in the river?" KRATOS: "To cross it." ATREUS: "Wow... I wonder what that man's story is." KRATOS: "One day, I might tell you." ---

Just adding the phrase "at will" would do. Since you do not always wish to turn something to gold by touch that should be enough. Though knowing gods, they would say simply do not touch anything you don't wish to turn to gold.

Brain rich Well, in Greek mythology everything that had contact with Midas’ body would be turned into gold, but here it just applies to his hands, so his slim body makes no real sense, and of course, If the game respected the myth, Kratos would be unable to carry him around.

Guys, this wasn’t like Perseus, nor was this Kratos putting someone out of their misery. Perseus attacked Kratos. He fought for his family, but Kratos still attacked. Midas was minding his own business, suffering all alone, lamenting everything he’s done while his sanity dwindled. Kratos saw an out; that’s all it was.

Most of the famous figures from Greek Mythology that Kratos met attacked him first, so I didn't feel bad when they died. I felt really bad about Midas though, because he wasn't threatening Kratos in any way and he still got killed.
