Brok's death was not the death of a character but the death of a few all at once. His death resembled the death of Sindri, the death of a friend, an uncle figure, and a forger. I had to replay the entire game because of all the quips and lines I missed because of his death. Not the main character, not even a side one, but man, did that death hit harder than Mjolnir (did you know he and his brother made it?) Raise a glass to the Huldra Brothers.

Brok's death hit me like a freight train, dude. He spent so much time alongside his own brother, alongside Kratos and Atreus, making him the tools they needed to survive. Sindri didn't want to tell Brok that he wasn't whole, and wanted him to stay around for the next several Fimbulwinters. When Odin stabbed him, I just felt disheartened - _utterly_ broken. The best smith a brother could ask for, despite his tongue, was gone completely - no soul to traverse to the light of Alfheim, no existence to remain in the air. He was completely erased. He was no longer a person or a soul - only a memory. Fuck Odin. _Fuck. Odin._

Brok is, in many ways, Playstation's equivalent to Sargeant Johnson. They're funny, charismatic, foul-mouthed and lovable side characters whose deaths made many gamers cry. New characters may come along to replace them, but they've embedded themselves into the core of their respective franchises. As sad as Brok's death was, it was necessary. Atreus and Kratos until this point had only heard of Odin's cruelty, but hadn't experienced it for themselves. They heard the story of what he did to the giants, to Mimir, Týr, and Freya, and they sympathized. But they didn't truly understand the depths of Odin's depravity, and the extent of his cunning. Kratos specifically needed to lose something, someone, to Odin before he would understand that Odin *needed* to go, vengeance be damned. Faye understood this. She saw her husband and son's entire journey. She knew they needed to bring Odin to justice, but they could only do so if Odin made it personal. Imagine carrying that kind of weight. Faye is without a doubt my favorite character in the entire franchise.

I really felt the absence of Brok and Sindri in the post game. It didn't feel the same, upgrading gear and stuff. I've been used to Brok and Sindri's banter from all the way to GOW 2018 and now with just Lunda, it feels empty and missing. No disrespect to Lunda though.

While the manner of how everyone was griefing and how it was written has been very well executed the overall lead up to it was contrived and not at all plausible. We never had any scene of Brok opposing Tyr to warrant his doubts. I felt with Sindri though.

I made sure I dealt the final blow against Odin with Draupnir. It's how Brok would've wanted it to end. Nothing more ironic than the Allfather being struck down by the very thing he took from the brothers heartlessly, turned into a weapon by them, and its ire spurred by his actions.
