You're confusing impact with whats an actual better game. 2018 took everyone by surprise and with Ragnarok ppl knew what to expect so it wasn't has huge. But this game has WAY more enemy types this time around, in 2018 tht was a huge problem. You literally fought the same Troll over and over just reskined lol and the same draugr and dark elves. The writing has gotten better in Ragnarok and the voice acting, not too mention the big intro fight this time around was even better than Baldur imo.

The thing in the middle of the battlefield between Kratos and Thor is a frozen lightning bolt. It was created when the elemental lightning of Mjolnir clashed with the elemental ice of the Leviathan Axe. Seems like most people didn’t pick up on exactly what that was, but it’s fucking badass.

SPOILERS Actually you learn it later during a side quest that this was not the FIRST time the axe and mjolnir fought. Faye had a huge death battle with Thor in Vanaheim where you also find another frozen lightning bolt, where both leveled a village and formed a valley.

To explain the blood debt thing, Thor wanted something from Kratos as compensation for His sons. And he got it, He got Kratos to loose control and break his discipline over his rage but for a moment. Something Kratos obviously doesn't want to do anymore, so that is why Thor considered his debt paid.
