Awesome my friend. I just bought a flute a fortnight ago. 35 years since our band folded. Christ I couldn’t get a note first day and I was the one that done the band solo in the competitions. I have my first band practice with my new band this week 35 years after my last one and pleased to say almost as good as I was away back then. Getting better each day

Well done Craig, it's something that never leaves you, the mouth muscles may slacken a bit from under use but once a fluter, always a fluter.

I have removed the first attempt as the sound was too quiet at 3 mins 20, it has gone the opposite here, but I will improve the quality later.

Hello If budget isn't a problem I would recommend the Miller Wicks N.I Bb 5 key flute made from African Blackwood. Welcome to Bb Flute.

Hi Nathan great to hear you are learning the flute and joining a band in your area. This is the best way to learn. If you have facebook, log in and search for Fluter's Companion page, i post all notes on there and a chart for all the notes on the pdf link. Also check out my webpage at stuartboyd.co.uk and go to tutorials, look for the learn to play flute vids. If you need any help or advice just message me on the facebook page, good luck.

Yes its cheap, yes it plays more consistently than any wooden flute in any temperate climate, yes it is stronger and less likely to crack and there are probably 10,000 of these to every 1 Worrell Crown. Pete's flutes are faultless and look astounding. However if someone was considering learning the flute, a Miller Browne should satisfy them for a while. The best flute on the market are the Tony Millyard flutes. I will put a demo on my site playing both, soon and at nearly £600 the Bb aint cheap.

Unless i am grossly mistaken that looks and sounds more like a piccolo than a flute.
@AccordionStu4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam you are grossly mistaken. A Piccolo is much smaller and more high pitched than a Bb band flute. These flutes were around before Theobal Boehm's Concert flutes and are pitched at A=452Hz, a unique instrument borm from the early fife with keys added later. The piccolo to accompany this instrument would be in the key of Eb or F natural in the 452Hz range.

Hi steve, yes there are 5 tutorials on youtube which will still be suitable for your tunes. There is alternative fingering for the notes C and you won't be able to play fully chromatic, but I will put something together for you, send me your email,

Are B flat fifes commonly used? And like with the extra metal keys and stuff?
@AccordionStu17 жыл бұрын
iT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT KEY YOU PLAY IT IN, UNLESS YOU ARE PLAYING OTHER PARTS, IE Bb 2NDS, 3RDS , F, Eb PICOLLO, Bb BASS, Eb ETC, YOU CAN ARRANGE MORE PARTS IN THE KEY OF D, BUT MOST BANDS IVE BEEN IN PLAY IT IN G. I AM IN A CORPS OF DRUMS AND DON'T WORRY, I DON'T PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO THE CRITICISM, IT'S FUNNY.

On this type of flute, with most notes just blow harder, some notes require different fingerings.
