Absolutely Troy. When I gave Jesus 100% of my life, Body, Soul, and Spirit in 1994. I began to see miracle after miracle happening immediately around me. All I prayed to him was Lord open all the doors you want me to walk through and close the ones you do not. Did I ever get a surprise! I not only got a visit from him 27 years later. Recently while attending our church he spoke to me audibly for the first time. He told me he was going to heal me. I was so amazed by his guidance in my life. I have never looked back since. We should all remember God cannot lie when he says he rewards those who diligently seek him. Diligence means to pursue him with excellence which is 100% surrender to him. Anything else means you have not given him the surrender of everything.

When I fell on hard times, the same ministries, that I had given thousands to, turned me away. I give to the poor and needy now, not the rich and greedy. Very sad state of affairs in the church.

I do know of Jamal Bryant and feel that your Word is on point. I truly believe he needs to get radically saved after hearing him say things opposed to the Word of God. I stopped listening to him due to some of his beliefs and teachings like when he preached about 3 years ago that Jesus' life was 85% wrong. I'm sure that sermon is still on KZbin. I listened to the whole sermon to make sure I heard him right. I turned a deaf ear to him after hearing it. But, due to your Word, I do agree with you in prayer for him.

I have know this about Mr. Bryant for years. I live in the DMV area where he originally was head of a church. Many affairs and other scandals. So much so that people in the community didn’t want his charity. There is a difference in falling and deciding you want to live two different lives. I will pray for him & his followers.

Because, if by some degree you do not "know" His Word, then you are factually "ignorant" of His Word to that same degree. No one in this covenantal age learns scripture by praying and fellowshipping with God. It's an attractive idea, but it isn't so. And the Word clearly admonishes us to know Him through His Word. Can we split the difference and agree 50/50? (fellowshipping vs reading) I do not know where the scriptures give a balance, but I do know that if you don't know God's Word, you are lacking. Just ask our brothers and sisters around the world who plead for us to send them Bibles.

Actually, I've watched this phenomena of "backyard prophets and self-proclaimed modern prophets" emerging over the course of 55+ years. If we take the time to read the whole of scripture carefully and with purpose, we should be able to learn what an actual prophet was and their true purpose was. God did indeed work through his prophets - His Prophets. His prophets were called and appointed and established by God. It wasn't anybody and everybody who thinks they have a "word" from God. Sincerity, or passion, or devotion do not qualify anyone to be a prophet. The prophets of the Hebrew Bible were endowed with authority to enforce or draw attention to the covenantal relationship that the Jews had with God Almighty. They proclaimed to the Jews how Israel was failing to adhere to the covenant laws. The Prophets were not spiritual tattle-tales, nor were they charged with scanning the headlines and trying to get out ahead of the other "proclaimers of Revelation in yesterday's headlines". It is a horrible indictment of the church that we chase after these attention-seekers rather than trusting the Word of God for guidance and proclamation.

If you are saying that the word or office of prophet can be something other than an Elijah or Daniel, then I might agree. However, were were never admonished by the the Lord Jesus to go looking about for "previously unknown" or "special word of knowledge" or "prophetical utterances" type of advice or edification from "spiritual soothsayers" on youtube or (horrors) "christian tv" or any other medium. Period. If you think I'm trying to be cute, then you mistake me. The method and order of our assemblies and our edification and "edifiers" were well spelled out by the New Testament writers, not from one of Jesus' parables or even the "Sermon" on the Mount". Proceed to 1 Corinthians chapter 14 for a quick but informative reference on how we are to receive and review the Word. There is more information available from the epistles and I'm sure other New Testament books. The kind of prophets (with a little "p") that we should have now operate from a local congregation or house church and for the purpose of very personal edification of our brothers and sisters. I'm sorry to contradict you so strongly brother, but this "prophet" fellow is at best out of place and operating outside of a local group and without visible oversight of proper elders or if you prefer, pastoral leadership. I have a question. Doesn't scripture teach that we take such things to a person in private first, then if they dont listen, you take someone else with you who can see the wrong that person is doing so the two can again try to get him to stop doing the bad they are doing? Then if they still dont stop, then you can go to the church and confront them before the people of the church? Isnt that the way its supposed to be done? Then if they still don't repent, then the church is to separate themselves from that person to allow Satan to sift them as wheat. @courtnorton9002 I’m sure that is how Job felt too. We can see times through the Bible where Gods chosen felt the same! Read the book of Psalms, you can see so much heartache and feelings of abandonment, but David keep reminding himself of Who God is and Gods truth even though he didn’t feel that way at the time. We all go through testing times which makes our choice for Jesus even stronger when the time comes. Hang in there.
