Lol that's what I thought too, they have instruments which can map the entire geology underground

No, because the oil is too deep in the ground. There are some military technologies that can be used to, for example, find near surface tunnels, but finding oil is not possible. The surface can be analyzed to try to find signs of underground deposits, but that's about it.
