This video was actually so helpful for me. It put into words some of the questions I have been actually asking myself. I grew up being taught cessationism. I've been on a journey over the last 10 years of challenging that view and i would no longer call myself a cessationist, but i am definitely still trying to discern the truth of scripture accurately! I grew up in this. But praise GOD HE led me to videos showing the spirit it ACTION a few years ago with the gifts. I even experienced DELIVERANCE a few times just watching!! Even received my prayer language until my head gets in the way. Sometimes difficult to overcome. I would love prayer for faith to strengthen. Thank you and God bless you.

In the chapter that says that tongues will cease it also says " Now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face"( 1Cor.13:12). We don't see face to face with the finished cannon of the Bible, but with Jesus Christ at His coming.

If tongues ceased just like Jesus ceased doing what he was doing, tongues would still be here today. See Luke 11:1 (I'm reading it in KJV) Same Greek word used in 1 Cor 13:8. Same English word too. Have we forgotten what the word cease means? Or, has someone for whatever reason been trying to hide something from us? God isn't hiding anything.

since prophecy can be defined from scripture as direct revelation from God, should we include all prophetic words spoken today into our Bible? In other words should we be writing more books in the Bible, since a prophetic word is equal with scripture? Do we have an open canon of scripture or a closed canon? It it is indeed closed how can there be modern day prophetic utterances? Seems to me God is still speaking today, but only through His written word the Bible. The only true prophecy that is spoken today is when one opens the Bible and reads it out loud.

There is a lot of examples of prophecy that was shared during Bible times that never was recorded in Scripture. I encourage you to listen to Open But Cautious about Prophecy by Remnant Radio. They show biblically how prophecy and Scripture are not exactly the same.

@@TroyGoesFishing I did go and listen to that podcast. Not convinced in their arguments. I see that scripture is prophecy that is written down.No matter how you slice it, according to the word of God, whether they recorded it on papyrus, or manuscript, or whether they spoke it and it was not written down, it was still equal with scripture. The key is they were to weigh the words that the prophets spoke. If it came to pass, or if it reflected God's will from past prophecy it was correct. If it didn't come to pass they were false teachers. We should not be saying things today in the name of the Lord unless we are reading right out of the word of God. I hope you come to a knowledge of that truth Troy.

Thank you for sharing, if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves (1 John 1:8), but some people struggle with intrusive thoughts which are not a sin. But if we have thoughts reflecting our sinful desires, then yes, we are to repent (1 John 1:9) and take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:5). God will not leave or forsake His children (Deuteronomy 31:8), and Christ’s blood is sufficient to cover all sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV): “A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.” Abide in Christ, and Christ in you (John 15:4).
