Amen, its not about rehearsing so that we can speak our way to perfection but rather we agree with what the holy spirit has said that we are royal priests, secure and glorious in him. Our primary focus should not be on ourselves but on our neighbors, how we can help them, knowing that we are well supplied and secured in Christ and desiring that they might be the same. Ultimately we have to choose, are we going to rely on our own power under the 'focus equals force' principle, which is really just practice makes perfect with no need for God, or are we going to rely upon the power of the spirit to transform us as we call upon him moment by moment. It is the difference between relying on a person and relying on your own ability to remember that person and while God is merciful to those who do not understand he is longing for us to cone up higher, that we might be power packed and ready to do his work, not always striving to strengthen ourselves when he has commanded us to receive our strength from him. The bible does indeed say that life and death are in the power of the tongue but the context of that verse was a culture where converts were literally threatened with death if they did not renounce Christ, so you see, the life and death spoken of was either sticking to Christ and refusing to renounce him or renouncing him to the damnation of your soul. Now today, without great persecution, the principle endures in this form, those who call the spirit a liar and those who call him true. If you call him a liar, you cannot receive him, if you call him true, you must rely upon his power and not your own for that is his command.
