I am not here for the NPCs- my entire focus is the collective. Nothing happens without a plan, and I had a part in organizing it- they're the only friends and family I have. You're not wrong- I am completely unique and free, but unfortunately, I am also completely alone. I am materially successful (usually- this year has been awful, though) but that that's not everything. Part of why I'm so hung up on my TF because when we were together, people actually spoke to us- on my own, I may as well exist in an empty world. I'm actually an extrovert, but everyone is afraid of me for absolutely no reason so I spend all of my time alone. I don't bite, and I defend my friends- and I'm not even terribly judgmental. I'm not ok with the truly evil, corruption of innocents or wantonly criminal behavior, but I don't expect people I'm socializing with to be just like me or on my level or anything like that, I just want to be accepted and for people to listen to me once in a while. I miss my wife for exactly that reason- she actually liked that I was smarter than her, and she was tough enough not to care what anyone thought about anything. I don't know if we were ever really even in love as much as we both terrified everyone else and had a good arrangement where we were each others' "trophies." (She was the matriarch of a cult that controls most of this area, and I'm what laypersons would call a higher-up in the "Illuminati"- no group is actually called that anymore, and there have been schisms, but the A.'.A.'. is at or near the top of the food chain, and we all come from the same source.) The trouble with that arrangement is that when she died, her retarded underlings came after me- they weren't that hard to push back, but it broke any alliance I might have made with them- they should have encouraged my TF to stay with me instead of actively turning her against me, offered to help me find a new wife, and included me in what they were doing, but instead they came looking for handouts and talking about my "obligations." I raised three step kids to adulthood and my wife died- I don't owe anyone a goddamn thing, and now most of them are bankrupt, hospitalized or fertilizing the graveyard's lawn (I didn't do it- I'm one of the anointed, karma just slaps back hard when I'm attacked.)
