I want to believe sooo bad that this is a project between William Bevan (Burial) and Kieran/Joy O/Ben UFO or someone similar. The joke could have spawned from William Bevan/Burial coming back into the scene but wanting to remain out of the limelight given he hated it. Two Shell’s self productions really highlight darker, more lofi aesthetic closer to what Untrue/Archangel and Moth era Four Tet/Burial collabs sounded like. Post Fridge era. Performance prerecorded is obviously the joke. There’s very clearly super talented and musically inclined ears behind the actual set, and it was created for this performance. It’s why Kieran comes to mind here. Highly percussive track selection that’s super layered and has lofi garage/jungle/dub woven throughout, with a bit of post rock/jazz and techno sprinkled in.
