When I worked at GameStop circa 2006-2008, we got God Hand in stock every now and then. It would sell almost immediately. I never understood why until I played it. What a game!

A member of the Magic the Gathering design team likes to say something along the lines of "If you want to make something for yourself, chances are someone else wants that thing, too", and God Hand seems like the perfect example of that. Hell, it might be even considered as "the classic" by now. -God Hand is the reason Clover Studio went "bankrupt" Which is untrue thanks to this video. Hell it wasn't bankrupt, it's just the decision from higher up. It was just a coincidence that they were disbanded shortly after its release. -God Hand is actually a joke short budget game This is quite surprising since as a young boi, I see this game as quite high quality in fact. Maybe because it was released in an era of ridiculous games like Saints Row, Guitar Hero and many Rockstar games for example. Man, I'm glad you covered this. So this game is actually a nice game and not really the "wha happun" game. It made me happy as well since people actually loved this game. Also, what the heck, IGN?! No wonder those rumors circulated around

Randomly purchased it in 2008. Didn't know what to do with it but I was used to the re1 tank controls. It was so hard at first. Glad I got patient and learned the gameplay. One of the most frustratingly fun game in the PS2. Played all the difficulties including kick me. Almost busted the circle button of my pad due to mashing.

Gene was almost in Marvel vs Capcom 3 but lost the role to Frank West. Well that'd would've been a cool replacement for Infinite. I would want Gene and God Hand back in any way or form. On the subject of Breath of Fire, I heard 4 was the last good game, Dragon Quarter was extremely divisively, and 6 was reduced to mobile games. Which is a shame: Nina, Fou Lu, Katt, and Deis were considered for Marvel 3 and Infinite. If Capcom ever makes some Capcom Heroines fighter with all their ladies since they know people will buy their games with hot sexy monster ladies but won't bring back Darkstalkers for some reason, Nina, Katt, Deis, even Ursula would be pretty interesting.

Dragon quarter is a thoroughly enjoyable game- there’s so much cool stuff in there to love, but roguelike/light mechanics weren’t in vogue at the time. People would’ve eaten up a contemporary iteration of BoF 5 a couple of years ago. Reviewers just bounced off it, in a time that people still valued the gaming press, despite the pile of interesting risks it took. Agree that Breath of fire six is truly a miserable, cynical attempt to monetise leftover art assets though.

I was a dumb kid and skipped on buying this game at retail when I had the chance. I played it a couple years later and never forgave myself. If there's one game I'd like to see a What Happened? of, it's Anarchy Reigns. Someone has to know why the NA release (January 2013) was pushed back so often despite having a full English dub/translation in the original Japanese release (July 2012).

I read the IGN review, to see their issues. "The game encourage button mashing" "You can kill enemies just by mashing 2 buttons", Now, correct me if I'm wrong but the more you die/take damage, the easier the game makes itself. And the reviewer often complained about "Being at low health at the end of a level" and "Not getting healed", so that means they took a truckload of damage right at the end. Not only that, they called the dialogue unfunny (Which I disagree with, some of it pretty funny and the visual gags are goddamn amazing). Then, you have the fact that makes think they never played the game; "Generic enemy design". In what other game do you fight a black gay couple, a luchador gorilla, a sympathetic crime boss and more?

This game is BRUTAL but very stimulating. The sense of humor is a bit dated, but still has great moments. Also, aside from the classic protoman battles, godhand has the best rival boss battle EVER. Sorry, DMC fanboys, Vergil has nothing on Azel.

About the only real criticism I'd give it, is that the first boss shouldn't have had you 2 on 1 before you're barely learned the camera and the mechanics (and before you can really buy a lot of new moves without lucky betting!)

My uncle described this game to me and I was under the impression it was like a slightly serious violent pub brawler But far from it, it was really campy and clearly not made in the west like the rest of my uncle's ps2 library, just not what I expected him to be into playing alongside 18 wheeler and splinter cell
