Godot Dev Tries Defold Engine - The Yellow Dude

so, I did a live stream last weekend and.... it didn't go well. so, I made a video out of the session, basically I made a very simple game in Defold engine.

I love Defold. Godot's node system feels unnatural to me. Their 'messaging' system which is 'signal' feels so complicated. Or is it because I still haven't explored Godot very much, are there anyway of making a game other than using loads of nodes?

Godot basically works on the principal of composition, you combine nodes to make nodes...now i dont think thats a bad idea and not really different from defold. Defold also uses components like in unity but godot make it much more flexible to work with. And ofc with that, there comes some getting used to. And its not that hard to grasp the concept of signals. Its just simple as connect 2 objects to let them communicate with each other and it gets a as complicated as you make it!

Why is this me I just started through Godot tutorial this week and confused about signals

@@fanskucing597 what are you confused about tho? Like which part, it's really simple, signals allow objects to communicate with each other

​@@fanskucing597 It's been a month since I commented this, but I continued with Godot. Making a game is hard, but making an app is not. I learned more about the node system after making an app using Control nodes. Signal or messaging is really simple once you get the hang of it. So I recommend you to start making a calculator or something just to get the hang of the engine. Probably the reason why it's better to invest your time in Godot is because it is in its crazy phase of development, sooner or later, it'll stand at an equal footing alongside Unreal. But Defold is still a good choice too.

Can you come up with some tutorials for Defold Engine? There are too few tutorials for it.

What u think about Defold ? I never use it but from information look like it easy, good performance, free for export and package (apk and web) didn't drain space in storage but why long time ago.. Defold didn't have big community same with Godot ? have something hard or complicate in Defold ?

What i think is, its not because its difficult but rather imo its User interface and how stuff works can be complicated to understand for new users. As it uses lua, which is not that difficult to learn, its not hard but just its confusing at first. On the other hand, godot feels more intuitive to use, its easy, fast and efficient. Gdscript is easier to pick up even for non coders.

I would recommand you very much to increase the bitrate on your screenrecording... because I cannot see sh**... Video sounds interresting but stopped watching because of the quality. Don't take this as hate but rather as a tip for future content! Would've loved to watch the whole video

Well.... This was due to my dumb brain forgot to change my stream settings to my preferred recording settings.... Bcz i streamed a day before recording the video so yea.... All other videos quality are good tho... Thx tho for reminding me of that again lol
