Godowsky: Gamelan & Wayang Purwa from "Java Suite"

My favorite movement in the Java Suite is Purwa (shadow puppet plays). The opening Gamalan is one of my favorites, as it brings a very appropriate pace and theme to the introduction of the suite. Puts the listener in the correct mood, so to speak. (I also really enjoy listening to the Three Dances "moderato" movement). Thanks for your careful, lovely performance (and not a bad piano too!), and thanks also for sharing your performance with the wider community here. Interestingly for me, I am unable to fully separate what I feel is the "interestingness" of the Java Suite from Albéniz' "Iberia" suite, mainly because I first heard each of them within a very short period of time from one another on my adventure in exploring the wider piano repertoire. As a piano afficionado yourself, I'm sure you've heard of Albéniz' Iberia, and of Alicia de Larrocha's masterful recordings of it. Anyway, I was hoping you could comment on my combining of the Iberia and Java suites into a similar category. I'm hoping there's more to it than just this Westerner's fascination with tempos and chord progressions that aren't necessarily Western in nature. Great performance! My favourite interpretation on KZbin, many aspects being more accurate to the subjects than in Mrs. Budiardjo's performance
