this piece is a roller coaster! this piece has the texture and sonority as the ocean. kinda like the first piece of gaspard the nuit. when the piece starts, we are calmly swimming at the surface of the ocean. Then at 0:30 something happens. the texture changes as we are sinking into deeper water. simply confused and numb to whats happening. then at 0:50 when we start to hear some water creatures giggle as we sink deeper. the melody is mainly in the left hand and i believe it is our protagonist starting to recognize what is happening and is having a monologue. at 1:11 the protagonist slowly realizes what is is happening and starts having a dialogue, we as the fast scale and the sixteenth tremolo thing as the creatures responding with giggling. Then the bass drops 1:22 as our protagonist is shocked at what is happening and is overwhelmed with agony. it´s a storm under water, vortex like, with the creatures now laughing and the same melody as before, now stronger than ever. at 1:42 the texture changes from agony to a sense of clarity as the protagonist takes evasive action and tries to escape. The texture feels more fluid now. the melody soon becomes unbearable and then at 1:58 we get a sense of relief now that the protagonist is exhausted from running (underwater running? = mega slow). 2:08 we are no longer able to escape as the creatures have rendered me immobile and i am in a climax of pain and suffering. 2:23 we are now left alone, stranded on the bottom of the ocean staring at the surface as the protagonist accepts his fate. a sense of tranquility washes over you... I don´t know why i decided to write this. It is past my bedtime... I mainly wrote in third person however, that part 2:08 when i wrote about pain and suffering i switched to the first person. I did not realize this until i read it. Maybe since i´m an edgy teenager. bye

Thank you so much for your amazing comment! It made me smile. 😊 I love how you captured the emotion and story in the piece. And don’t worry about switching perspectives-it shows how deeply you connect with the music. Best of luck with everything ahead!

I can hear the Gamelan in it. This piece is very hard to play, because Gamelan-music is so different. Chapeau. By the way, I liked the video too.

Love it! This movement (or pretty much the entirety of the Suite) is a monster, and you've done it exceptionally well!

Hey ! I discovered the java suite recently, and I don't know a lot of Godowsky's pieces. I will listen more of this composer now, thank you for your lovely interpretation :)
