How have I never seen these Godsmack AOL sessions before?!? I love it when my favorite bands do these because the quality sounds awesome. In my opinion these performances display which artists can play for real live and honestly sound legitimate like they do on their record, mainly regarding the vocals. Sully's voice sounds great in this clip, and very similar to the way he laid it down in the studio, you can always count on this band to provide a bare-knuckle performance...

The song is KILLER, my personal favorite of GODSMACK, I like the simplicity of the video. Unlike any other music video, where you have the production and the theme, or even a LIVE version of something, this is just plain jane basic, very refreshing.

I think the drummer is Tommy Stewart who was the original drummer for Godsmack. I don't think Shannon joined until the time of Faceless. If I am wrong anyone out there feel free to correct me.

Yeah, that's definitely Shannon. Tony left in late early 03 I believe. If you look at the I Stand Alone vid, the drummer was bald. That was Tony. This vid is Shannon

Yeah you're right Tommy Stewart was the original drummer, as of when the band started getting big that is, before him I think there was a guy named Joe D'arco-who I'm assuming was pretty good considering Sully let him play for them-but he doesn't really count due to the fact he didn't play on the records and tour and all that stuff (at least I think). Tommy was def a sick drummer I've never seen someone play as hard as him with such good technique with his huge range of motion when he plays it looks crazy live. Shannon replace him in 2003 and is imo one of the greatest hard rock/heavy metal.drummers out there as well THE most entertaining to watch by far with his flailing arms on the hi hat, crazy stick tricks, and most of all pure muthafuckin aggression he tears it up never seen someone play with so much energy!!!

***** I've never understood how someone like Tommy Stewart could just leave Godsmack like he did, and of course I'm not criticizing him for his decision or anything, because if the chemistry isn't there, there's too much tension, or it's just not working, then it is what it is. Being in a band like that from what I've been told is almost like being involved in a marriage, minus a few things lol. But I'm just thinking shit man for someone like me who would literally sacrifice just about ANYTHING for an opportunity be their drummer, I would try as hard as possible to push through all the bad, and focus on the fact that I'm a Rockstar in one of the biggest hard rock/heavy metal bands on the planet, and doing what I love most making millions in the long run!!!!!!!!!!!

Sully definitely wrote his angriest/rawest/heaviest material overall on the first two albums I think. Which contained the original lineup. Shannon is my favorite drummer but nothing compares to their old stuff, as someone once said "hard as nails and cranked to eleven!!!" IImII

Adam Lambert I agree with you. Shannon is one of the best. I even prefer him over Tommy Stewart(Godsmack's old drummer), but Godsmack's old stuff was more raw, edgy, heavy, and better(nothing against their new material).

***** For sure man, nothing compares to their older stuff, as well as some of the stuff from the Faceless album, and a few singles from Godsmack IV. Awake will always be my favorite by far, even though most fans probably would pick their first album. What's funny is I actually remember in high school I listened to their first self titled album and didn't really like it. Even today I still like that album more for the music itself, rather than some of the lyrics and vocals (even though I love Sully' voice) which is a factor that makes Godsmack such a powerful band. I can play most of their instrumental tracks by and absolutely rock the fuck out, but when the music, lyrics, and vocals are completely in sync and combined into one, it creates a sound so raw and intense I can't even describe it. Unfortunately that sound I'm referring to just doesn't seem to be there in any of their recent stuff like Oracle or 1000hp, which is kind of disappointing. It's not that it's terrible or anything, but it's definitely not the same you know...
