Today I just got out of the hospital for Pancreatitis. I'd like to describe how this song relates to me in that matter. I don't think this song is about heroin (In my case Dilaudid, being in a hospital setting with doctors rushing about me), but someone forcibly bringing you off of it. "I'm not the one who's so far away when I feel the snake bite enter my veins." This was the point they injected me with Narcan to counter the Dilaudid. "Never did I want to be here again, and I don't remember why I came." This is because I wasn't the one who 'went' that direction. The doctors forced me down it. "Candles raise my desire; why I'm so far away. No more meaning to my life; no more reason to stay." This was the Dilaudid preventing me from feeling like my whole chest and abdomen was eating itself alive. I felt like I could actually fall asleep. Not die, just fall asleep. "Freezing Feeling, Breathe in Breathe in!" This was the first feeling from the Narcan that actually pulled me from that slumber, a freezing pain rushing through my head that had me gasping for air, and they had to put me on a ventilator. "I'm coming back again.." unknowingly and uncontrollably returning to consciousness, about to experience even more pain from the Narcan destroying the Dilaudids' connections to my opiate receptors. "I'm not the one who's so far away when I feel the snake bite enter my veins." Another shot of Narcan. "Never did I want to be here again, and I don't remember why I came." The doctors did this, not me. "Hazing clouds rain on my head; empty thoughts fill my ears. Find my Shade by the Moonlight; why my thoughts aren't so clear." At this point it was like a thunderstorm and gout of flame was added to my brain along with the freeze, and every word the doctors said sounded .. distant and distorted. "Demons Dreamin, Breathe in Breathe in!" This is when I could begin to partially make out the doctors' words, telling me to breathe. "I'm coming back again!" This was that point when I realized that there was a good possibility that I could have died, and even though I was in such agony, I was glad I was still 'here' so to speak. "I'm not the one who's so far away when I feel the snake bite enter my veins." Me realizing I somehow put myself in this possibility to begin with. "Never did I want to be here again, and I don't remember why I came." Me realizing I might have been close to this before and finally crossed a line. The rest of the lyrics are just rhythm to me and just help me remember these experiences. This is what I gather from this song. I hope people find meaning in this.

I remember my parents getting this album for me back in 1998 it was my 7th birthday I was so happy when I got it I even loved metal as a little kid my parents didn’t give a fuck what I listened to and I’m a girl I have listened to metal ever since I was 4 and now I’m 27 😁
