It was an embarrassingly bad production, inexplicably overseen by Stephen Schwartz himself. Apparently he cared about nothing but getting his definitive cast recording out of it. It just looked like a high school show…and not a particularly good one. Of course, the show itself is hopelessly dated. There was literally nothing to like. 🤷🏼‍♂

@@robstockton911 the directing in the 70's was no great shakes either. it's kinda the point. a ragtag tribe making these stories and songs as they go. this show was never high art.
