Good God (And I really mean that!) I was so depressed and doubting God's goodness. But when I saw the love and joy expressed by these people...well, at first, I found myself singing along with every song. Then, I started crying. I never had the privilege of seeing the Broadway play of this, but the movie version became my absolute favorite movie when I first saw it at age twelve. I remember crying tears of joy throughout the entire movie. Thank you all for sharing this wonderful tribute with the world.

I saw Godspell four times in Washington, DC, while I was in college in the early '70s. I used to play the album every day and knew all the songs by heart. My favorite song has always been "All For The Best" because it reminds me of the great patter songs in Gilbert and Sullivan. Thanks for posting this.

I want this whole album to be played at my funeral. I was a 9th grader in a catholic school group called the "Gentle Revolution" in 1977. We performed all over the LA Diocese at High schools with this album as our musical numbers. Best days of my life!

By my side is something that I have turned to ever since the movie was released when I'm feeling so lost and alone that the thoughts of going on is unbearable. I put an imaginary Pebble in my shoe and picture myself walking by Jesus's side and before I know it I've taken his hand and the loneliness is gone and I can carry on once again. The music from Godspell and the amazingly talented glorious people that have continued to share it over the years in my opinion have not only changed lives but they save them. We got I am very grateful to each and every person who had anything to do with bringing this beautiful gift to us all.

I remember singing this song outside our HS music room with all my band friends. A friend of mine could play piano by ear, she was Amazing. Another friend had hopes of going to Broadway, but, he died soon after HS in a car accident at college 😢 'Oh, Dear Lord'... 'Three Things I Pray...', indeed.🙏☮️❤ Life is Too Short Not to Live it!

Our high-school did godspell and the director created a beautiful character for me and I was the first freshman to be cast in the drama society in 1975. I was a budding ballet dancer and I was an angel in our production, It was the best experience of my life as a dancer!

How I remember being in seventh grade and the class split into the boys and girls would sing their part until the whole classroom was marching around their desk singing Day by Day. Brings tears to my eyes to remember beautiful young souls singing their hearts out first thing in the morning to our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. If only this were sung in every tongue from every mountain top throughout the world right now. Amen.

I remember a mixed up time in our world with Woodstock and then seeing Jesus Christ Superstar in 1973 having been involved in a group called Maranatha, it was a little off, but told the story for the most part, so when I saw Godspell I went with a closed mind not thinking it would be correct biblically and was pleasantly surprised. I loved it and the songs! I was a great time of spiritual annointing like we need again today.

Stephen Schwartz is an icon. I had the pleasure of being in the orchestra for Pippin during my teens and loved the experience. I had no idea he was the creator of both shows back then. I was actually introduced to Godspell early on when my sister had the Original Australian cast on vinyl, which is so hard to find these days yet remains my favorite version. Nostalgia goggles, I guess.

"End is near" or not, your delivery is not one that follows Christ's example of spreading the news. It is much more dramatic, sensational, and ego driven. I suspect you have a hard time listening.

I knew about the Broadway production, and the movie, but didn't see the film until 1978. I loved it, and I'm not a very religious person. The music is memorable and easy to sing. I sing along to the soundtrack album, often. I miss Merrill Jackson, and Lynne Thigpen, and all the others.

The first time (of many) that I saw this performed in Toronto I fell in love with it. Such a shame it wasn't taped that I know of. Don Scardino played Jesus, Paul Shaffer was the conductor, and among others in it were Gilda Radner, Martin Short, Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin.

In Martin Short’s book he refers to GODSPELL all through it. So many close friendships were bonded, he met Nancy, his wife, in the cast. Twenty-five years after, he and Paul Schaffer were just talking. He said that, out of nowhere Paul asked,”Why do you think................?” (I can’t remember the question). But it was a question about their company’s production of GODSPELL, like it had happened a week before.

I love seeing Eugene Levy and his son Dan and daughter Sarah in it. So funny and also touching at times. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a look. Almost all Canadian cast.

In the early 70s the local PBS station, Channel 19, had an interesting, somewhat introspective program called Day By Day. At first, they used the Patty Mariano track for the theme, then switched to an instrumental one. Her voice is still beautiful. Excellent presentation, thanks.

This breaks my heart because this is absolutely my favorite show and I didn't get to see it off or on Broadway because I didn't know what it was. (lol) Bought the casette one day & it was love. Saw the film when it premiered on tv. I wore out a casette & 2 CDs of the cast recording. This clip is gold. Love them all!

Don Scardino was NOT the orignal Jesus in the original off-broadway production of Godspell. That was Stephen Nathan. Surprised that no one on stage cleared that up.
