To answer a few questions... The customer specs the truck with axles and length to maximize payload in their operational area. This is determined by their local (state) bridge capacity and highway usage laws. This particular truck was built to maximize payload in the State of Virginia. This is also the reason for the space between the cab and body.

the cab is the same dating back to the mid 90's but they are a little bit deeper after 2005 or so. I drive a 2020 granite and its pretty roomy for me. I also have a 97 that is the same shape but just isnt as deep, so I sit pretty close to the wheel and dash even with the seat all the way back. The new trucks has a few more inches to them but it makes a huge difference. its not quite as big as the new Peterbilts, Kenworths, and Western Stars, but its close.

that truck was probably destined for Ohio, or maybe Pennsylvania. due to the axle configuration. Bridge weight/Axel weight laws per axle. 6 or 7 axles spreads the weight out.

Smckinney3 Mckinney more likely Ohio. PA tri axles haul 23 ton with a max gross of 73,280. My 6 axle can haul a pinch over 24 legally at 77,000.

Judging by its wheel and axle setup, It should be good for 80K give or take. Though state laws may dictate that more and federal law will probably have it max at about 69K. I run a quad axle mack that has a GVWR of 84K and will run 78K on average everyday.

@@Mach_Style that's my dream truck... But, I want it with an R style cab to match the rest of my trucks. Why is there so much room from the cab to the box? No way is that made for a sleeper... It's big enough for a compressor and tool box.

@@rbed9470 ahhh the old R model macks. I love those as well. Well if were comparing to that, the cab is a little bit larger compared to the older R models. as for the cab to box distance. That's pretty typical for most dump trucks. A lot of times the are stretched like that to meet federal weight laws and just to make servicing the hydraulics a little easier.

80,000 gvwr on the door. Depends on the state what it can legally haul. In PA I can run 77,000 in a 6 axle but I’ve had loads up to 88,000.
