It's basically just the theme from Godzilla vs Megaguirus, just a little more polished. With that being said, it's such a bad ass theme. My personal favorite theme will have to go to GMK though.

I was so let down by those anime movies. With a title like "Planet of Monsters", I was expecting an epic Final Wars style story being split into three parts. Instead we got Vine-bats, Neck Ghidorah, and a city. The first two films should have just been about the initial kaiju invasion, with the final film being about the return to Earth and the quest to kill Godzilla.

Nothing will top Akira Ifukube's score for me, ever. That said, if his music had to be excluded, this is easily what I would pick as the defining theme for Godzilla. Michiru Oshima absolutely should return to compose the next Godzilla film.

What makes this one my favorite is how it goes from descending flute lines in the first time through, and then switches to the trills like the Megaguirus one. Oh, and the deeper percussion for sure
