I'm glad they've moved past it 'cause you can only keep it for so long, and it usually never lasts past movie number one anyway. It really only works in _this_ movie because it was _the first time_ we saw Godzilla and the world he inhabited. Same reason why the atomic breath doesn't feel special after the first time. Hard to keep that around for multiple movies when the monsters are treated as actual characters the audiences grow attached to and would want their perspectives followed instead. They are the real stars of the show, after all.

Yeah, that's why this one feels special. Like Pacific Rim, you're made to really feel the scale of these unfathomable creatures. I regret that they've moved past it. When everything shifts to the monsters' perspective, you lose any sense of awe or wonder. It's just CGI models punching each other with no depth or focal point for the audience. It's why this is the only Monsterverse film I ever rewatch.

​​​@@mmcfacialhair dude pacific rim actually MADE it's human protagonist interesting, don't make your godzilla movie human focused if most of the cast are bland. There's a reason why Joe and serizawa are the only characters from this film fans like. Serizawa is interesting for exposition dumps but is still his own character meanwhile Joe was the clear emotion of the film but is killed off 35 minutes after the film starts. PR at least remembered to let mako live. There's also the fact pacific rim had more fight sequences compared to g14 which mostly teased the monsters a bit too much for it's own good. You can still get a sense of wonder from these characters from any perspective. You don't gotta have it from a human perspective to achieve that. The monsters are characters after all with established personalities. You get more of said personalities when you look at things from their perspective. Either make your humans interesting if you're gonna make them the main focus or don't have them be the main focus at all.

They turned this franchise into the Fast and Furious. This film was shot beautifully, showing how we would react to this powerful force all of sudden showing up, and showed the raw power and destruction Godzilla brings by simply coming on land. He is destruction. By purpose or mistake. He is the better of two evils. Now he's sleeping in the Colosseum in Rome without destroying it and jumping around like a frog. Smh.

There's something seriously wrong with the world if watching a movie about monsters killing humans and destroying cities gets no reaction from people but you put a dog in one scene and suddenly everyone's covering their eyes and faces screaming.

I can't believe this movie ruined Godzilla's introduction scene by just giving us some leg shots and brief fight shots. This movie is so clustered with human focus, it's hard to even call it Godzilla's movie

@@alyssabullock6421 so explain gojira 54, return of godzilla, GXMG and minus 1?. All of which were human focused godzilla films that had monster action in them?. The problem with g14 wasn't the fact it was human focused, it was the fact the writing was underwhelming. The airport sequence was fine. The issue was that when the movie could of given us another fight sequence when the 3 kaiju arrived in San Francisco during the day, the movie cut away from that.
