Reiterating my point: We all know going into a Monsterverse film it’s going to be: Boring human characters give exposition, then big dinosaur fight big monkey, insane physics defying spectacle. And that’s okay because that’s half of Godzilla anyway. Does anyone watch Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla for the aliens vs Interpol or Invasion of the Astro-Monster for the goofy inventor/astronaut's sister sideplot? No, we watch for the goofy Showa era monster fights. There are campy Godzilla movies and semi-serious Godzilla dramas that try to capture the tone of the original. Both types work in their own way.
