Fun Fact: The director confirmed that the reason Mothra becomes aggressive when she's born is this is the first of her reincarnations where she is not treated by the Shobojin (her singing twin fairies, who in this version are most likely Dr. Chen's family) singing to her, and instead with men holding weapons. She woke up confused and scared, worried her worshippers have been killed. Though notice how she deliberately never kills anybody she attacks

There’s a lot of details about the titans that I really like about the monsterverse: -The titans aren’t treated just a bunch of kaiju. They’re giant animals and Earth is their ecosystem -Ghidorah’s three heads act like conjoined triplets. -The heads were given different names. The middle one is Ichi, the right one is Ni, and the left one is San, or Kevin (The best boi)

A common trope about mothra is that she always sacrifices herself but she also lives on as she usually always hatches an egg somewhere. Also if u were paying attention, when Mothra was obliterated by Ghidorah, her ashes and spores fell on Godzilla and when fire Godzilla blew his atomic breath you saw it came out as the form of Mothra and you heard her monster roar in that atomic breath. Not only did she help godzilla defeat ghidorah but she also prevented godzilla from blowing up.

It's pretty much the same thing that Fire Rodan did in the Heisei "Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla" movie. Godzilla is down and out, but the dying Rodan lands on him and infuses Godzilla with his power as he dies, giving Godzilla a huge power boost.

One cool thing: this is the ONLY time (so far) that a human character has physically touched Godzilla (I've seen all the movies). And it's fitting that it be Serizawa that does it. In the very first movies (1954) Serizawa is hesitant to use the oxygen destroyer, a weapon he accidentally invented, because he fears the effects it would have on the world. But, in the end, after destroying his research and lab he sacrifices himself to kill Godzilla and save the world, taking the deadly secret of the weapon to his grave. In this version, Serizawa (for multiple personal and cultural reasons) is hesitant to use nuclear weapons against the Titans. But, he chooses to sacrifice himself and use one to REVIVE Godzilla (instead of killing him) so Godzilla could save the world. A nice, poetic, full circle moment.

King Of The Monsters is still my favorite film out of all of the newer ones. The gorgeous visuals, amazing sound effects of the Titans/Kaiju, the design of the Titans, the immense scale of the Titans and the fantastic score. Probably the most underrated movie in the Monsterverse specially when it comes to it's scale and stakes, I know that the human characters, including their writing and dialogue, is perhaps it's weakest aspect, However, it is worth noting that almost everything about the monsters themselves was well made, Ghidorah was definitely the highlight for me.

While everyone knows to look for post-credit scenes these days, this is definitely a movie where you want to WATCH THE CREDITS too. During the credits, it shows a series of newspaper stories that take the story from this movie to the next, which announces that not only did new Mothra eggs wash up on China's shore, but that Godzilla was seen circling Skull Island (Kong's territory). Ghidorah may be the King of Regeneration, but Mothra was the Queen of Rebirth. There's a reason Mothra didnt care if she was blown to bits, because she would always be reborn in the form of her offspring. The movie even gives a subtle nod to the original characters, the Fairy Twins, who often spoke on Mothra's behalf by having one twin (Dr Ilene Chen) working on the Godzilla team while the other (Dr Ling Chen) worked at the Mothra site in China.

Especially when that full Orchestral score matches with amazing sound design… UGH! That being said, Godzilla Minus One was astounding, possibly one of the best of them all. Bringing that classic vibes while making a compelling historical drama story piece for the human element.

I've been a Godzilla fan since I was a child, so going on nearly 5 decades now basically. For the American "Monsterverse" movies so far, King of the Monsters is my favorite so far. We got not only Ghidorah and Rodan, but Mothra (dying to save Godzilla like usual lol) and a better Human story this time around. So not only is Godzilla's roar in these movies top tier, but the power up sound that occurs when he's going to use his nuclear breath is INCREDIBLE. Especially in this one where they seemingly added more bass to the power up sound - it's so good. Plus, the entire last 20 minutes or so, the "final" battle is amazing in this - especially when Godzilla goes "nuclear" (which is actually from the Toho movies in fact). Also, the music in this movie is amazing, I literally teared up when you hear the original Godzilla theme and especially the Mothra theme. I just get chills even thinking about it right now.

I like this series, along with the King Kong movie crossovers. I watched Shin Godzilla this weekend. It's not connected to this series. It was made in 2016, in Japan. It's very good. It's more like a remake of the original movie from the 50s. Some of the Godzilla scenes are very cool, specially when he matures. Def recommend it if youre a Godzilla fan.

I find it kinda funny how the whole Reiwa Era of Godzilla has been just a hotchpotch of self-contained Godzilla stories or alternate universes rather than a connected series like Showa, Heisei, or MonsterVerse. Nothing wrong with that lol it's just funny.

Yeah Ghidora can regrow heads as long as he has at least one remaining one if you cut them all off at the same time then he does die but not if you only cut off one or two. You can cauterize the wound to prevent it but most of the time the head would already grow back so you gotta be quick about it. I believe if I’m remembering right that’s how we got Mecha-Ghidora.

Basically, there are two kinds of Godzilla-Films. The first are the serious ones, which treat the Monster as a Force of Nature, as a cataclysm and/or a metaphor for Atomic Power and are as much about the Monsters as they are about the suffering their appearances entail and how much their existence is our fault. The 2014-Film belongs to this category, as do the 1954-Original, the 2016-Reboot and the recent Minus One. I view _King of the Monsters_ as a loving tribute to the (far bigger) second one: Those who may tackle serious topics on occasion but are mainly about the Spectacle; an array of giant Monsters duking it out and causing insane amounts of property damage while a large Human Cast is looking on, more or less helpless. In KOTM, the Humans are more useful than they are in many other entries of the franchise, but my point still stands.

Fun fact: these guys already have Mazer technology and they already developed handheld Mazer guns and turrets. Fun fact #2: in this movie, it seems that the monsters can tell or rather sense aggression towards them or any other, which is how they can find certain individuals 6:19 to me I think Mothra not only knows that they're trying to communicate, but also know that this could be a first step for both humans and monsters to get along, so she's less likely to attack.... but that's just my personal theory 18:52 I love the scene for Rodan, but it made me a little angry that he couldn't use his hurricane flap 19:03 if you notice closely, you can see Rodan, smiling, saying, "let me show you who's true warrior of the skies!"😈 20:40 I love the effect the oxygen destroyer had in this movie🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 still waiting for destroyah to be mentioned, and/or appear for a future movie. 21:08 when I heard this story, I was like that's a unique alpha but then I had a thought when I tried, putting in the words king Ghidorah and what do you know it actually matches 29:52 I love the fact that his atomic bursts had Mothra's wings on it, as well as Mothra roar 31:01 I'm surprised you guys didn't see the secret Sting ending for this

From where i live in asia, i remember 20+ years back like the early 2000s or late 90s, i spend my mornings watching the godzilla series and ultraman series produced by the Japanese studios. And they built my childhood, for real, with the monsters being some guy in a suit stomping around miniature buildings 😂 and of course, there wasno complex plot just : monster attacks city, then gojira/ultraman mucks around with the bad guy and eventually save the city… ah, the simple days back then…. So yea, I definitely understand the whole “need more monsters and less human dramas in these movies”

I enjoy seeing your dogs on screen from time to time!!!! I work at a local target store in the U.S. and the only thing that really cheers me up(my job really sucks; seeking another one)...is that occasionally you see dogs come in the store...always puts a smile on my face no matter what a rough day I have!!! So it also cheers me up so much seeing your dogs on screen too(as much as your reactions!!!). Would love if you could possibly have them both with you at the same time. Maybe thru the whole video would be cool too!!! That would be awesome if you could...if not just suggesting doing it once....love your channel!!!! Have been watching your channel since you did Shawshank Redemption a while back....good job guys....

There's a reason king ghidorah was the first monster to be brought back, one of the only rivals to have more than 2 movies back in the day. All the other lesser monsters are callbacks to the other oddball creatures that made cameos and whatnot in the old movies. The bug with drill arms is megalon from it's own 70's film, a dumb fun movie! I agree though the human plot is the weakest part of the film, frustratingly that's true to form to the series but at least the older movies had fun with it. I'm hoping they take the oxygen destroyer in the direction of the 2000's film in the future, that's another concerning monster with unexpected potential!
