I saw it twice and will probably a couple more times. I am a sucker for a good "shamed soldier gets a chance at redemption" story.

The sad thing is the majority of USA movie watchers don't want to watch a movie with subtitles, so the odds of Godzilla Minus One being a blockbuster is unlikely, but it already paid for itself due to its very modest budget.

On the positive, it was the number 3 movie in the box office results this weekend. Now, it’s kind of a slump week for movies but that’s still way over the expectations for the movies performance. I agree with you but hey, I’ll take a small win!

Loved it. How refreshing to see REAL people with flaws pull together to solve a national menace. No woke message. Real men, real women, real friendships, and real love and caring. Now I remember when movies were moral and good at heart.

Pardon my nitpicking, but at the start of the movie, as Koichi approaches Odo Island, the date "March 1945" flashed on screen. Japan Surrendered on September 2nd 1945, (after the August 6th and 9th atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) So Koichi's aborted mission didn't happen on the "last day of the war", being as the Japanese military would have been given orders to stand-down in the days leading up to the surrender. And I wouldn't necessarily call the first appearance "baby Godzilla" which implies he wasn't full grown, because one of the mechanics said that a local had told him of the monster's existence, meaning he'd obviously been around for some time. That was also before he was irradiated by the US Bikini Atoll nuke test, and thus mutated into the giant kaiju in his final form.

Thank you Shannon, I thought it said on screen that it was the last day of the war. If that part was a fever dream on my part, I apologize. I only said baby Godzilla because he was baby sized in comparison, I did not mean it as a fact of the movie but it could be misleading to have labeled it that way.
