The "Tired of Fighting" part is understandable. Because imagine the first thing you see after coming out from your mother's womb is a literal battlefield where your dad is fighting an army of skull crawlers and your mother is trying to keep you safe by hiding you in a cafe, only to see them dead once the situation calms down. So yea it's understandable that he is tired of fighting, poor dude barely has a childhood.

They really ramped up the cheesy dialogue and incoherent story for an all out monster brawl. Not saying I'm against it, but it's clear we all know what fills those seats in the theater lol.

Mothra does have her own movie lmaooo she’s a classic Kaiju like Godzilla, Gamera, and King Ghidorah. She ain’t the Queen of Kaijus for nothing. The MonsterVerse tend to be more mythical than sci-fi, since these creatures are based off mythical beings, like for example King Ghidorah is obviously based off of a Hydra from Greek Mythology, but since he’s an alien he’s sci-fi. Also the advanced technology that was created to adapt to the monsters is leaning towards sci-fi, but everything else is more mythical tbh. Also fun fact Godzilla’s purple form is supposed to be a homage to Kaio-Ken from DBZ. So maybe we could hope Kong could get a power-up in the future. Maybe he could get his own ‘’Atomic Breath’’ to rival Godzilla as a homage to the Great Ape’s mouth energy blast from DBZ.

Mothra was kind of a last minute change. They originally had a new Titan called Fosphera, but due to screen testings not liking it they changed it to be Mothra which got much more positive reception. GxK and GvK are both Kong movies for the most part. They’re his story of finding others like him so he can truly have a home. Some ppl don’t like how Godzilla is a side character here but that’s what was decided to give ppl more monster screentime while also telling a story that can be understood well enough based on the emotions shown by the monsters. Hell… Godzilla is mischaracterized and misunderstood by a good chunk of ppl even as a side character with humans explaining his actions and behavior. Tie-in comics also give more context and expand on the storylines but not enough ppl know about them.

Love both types but I lean more to the Godzilla vs monsters movies cause I love mythology and lore in the old vs movies that seem to carry on in the Monsterverse . Rob still complained even when there were no humans and it was all apes in a scene. Got mad bc he couldn't understand what they were communicating. Plus the story of her ppl and the ppl that worshipped the Titans have been getting developed since skull Island so it's not really that surprising. They are just letting few human scenes ruin their whole take on the movie.

I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her tribe. Also, I not only love the "Aw, shut up" punch on the ape annoyingly running his mouth a few seconds before Kong met Skar King, but the part where Kong lobs a rock and creams the one ape in the head. 😆🤣 Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.

Honestly I feel like the human characters could’ve been better portrayed. Nothing against the actors but their dialogue is sometimes off putting and cringe. I think when it comes to the Japanese version of the Godzilla franchise, the human characters are a lot better written. I did enjoy this movie but I feel like it could’ve been a lot longer due to the emphasis they put on its world building and lore. We could’ve gotten and learned more about Skar King(who I thought was a disappointing villain), Mini Kong, the other giant apes, Shimo, Mothra, and Jia’s indigenous tribe that are capable of telepathically communicating with each other. It seems like they try to fit all of that into 1 hour and 55 minutes and it couldn’t properly work. Not a bad movie but not the best either. King of Monsters and Skull Island are still two of the best movies in the MonsterVerse franchise.

Humans are tricky in stories like this. On one hand, the writing for the human characters needs to be better. Jia’s plotline was interesting imo but it was too complicated and wasn’t built well. On the other hand, the humans in kaiju movies tend to be reactionary. They’re there to analyze the scenes and give exposition. Godzilla movies tend you be about humans reacting to Godzilla, not Godzilla as a character going through an arc or character development. The question is: when the kaiju get more screen time and character development, can we reasonably make a good story with the little screen time the humans get in this movie?

I share similar feelings about this movie, especially Skar King being underwhelming (he should've been treated like he was on equal footing with Kong instead of making it seem like he was only powerful due to Shimo), he seemed much more threatening in the trailers and it felt like he'd be a villain that was leading to something greater, Mothra kind of appeared out of nowhere, Godzilla felt like a cameo character in a Kong movie, and the whole Iwi telepathy/prophecy thing was a bit forced. I think they really went balls to the wall because if I'm not mistaken, I believe they were going to cancel the Monsterverse if this movie didn't perform well. Regardless, this was a super fun movie to watch in theaters. It's far from my favorite, but I think it goes to show we can have serious and fun Godzilla movies, but I hope for future installments we can find a balance between the two and get something more like Kong Skull Island and King of The Monsters!
