Happy Birthday Sam. I agree with Oliver about training sheep dogs, not all collies can be trained and it takes some skill as a trainer and keenness from the dog. There used to a great sheep dog trainer that lived very near to you, at Tan Hill Pub, his name was Alec Baines we used to send our dogs to him for training.

Farming is a tough enough job without the snow. I worked on a mixed farm years ago and they had a couple of dogs which were great with both cattle and sheep, they could do the work of half a dozen men. Hope you’ll find things a lot easier when he’s trained.

you work hard and appreciate the place you live. the kids seem to love it and are far hardier than a lot of these gamer kids. who are brought up on whatever trends on facebook and the like. sad about the drone when you find it when the snow melt take out the battery and stick it in a box woith some of them dehumidifier blocks for a few days before trying to turn it on, get rid of any moisture that could kill it. that sky is amazing. happy bathday ha ha

What you think are white sheep turn out to be a mucky colour in contrast with the snow. Your terrain would be ideal for cross country ski ing. I am thinking with the number of times the buggy gets stuck, something on tracks would be great in an ideal world.

well happy birthday for the 9th january sam. we've had listeria in cattle on the odd occasion......there eyes go all flickery and they get like a nervous twitch in there head. the vet told us once it's similar to meningitis in humans.........a bad thing.........no real cure for it. we've had snow today in Devon .....about 2 inches. we don't usually get much snow here but we got a bit today
