Not just because Gohan wanted to save everybody, and not because Vegeta was a "good" person. Vegeta earned the respect of his former foes by investing in their planet enough to settle down there and fight for it.

To be honest Vegeta invested in Earth 🌎 by default. He was waiting for Goku to fight him 1 day. They wished him accidentally back by default being 1 of the people Frieza killed then moved to planet Earth. Vegeta was waiting for Goku but a bigger threat 💪 was coming which were the Androids. Vegeta being a Saiyan couldn't let go of a Challenge & wanted to fight them. But still there was no choice if he didn't they were going to rule the world. But since he liked fighting it was a plus. Finally he started a relationship with Bulma & fell ❤ for her. Had a family ❤ & became friends with the Z warriors.
