Capacity payments is the epicentre of IPPs agreements ordeal. Focus should be on negotiating and reaching a deal on this one point only and leaving other points due to international guarantees.

When these IPP contracts were made, the IPP has to take loan in yuan which is pegged to dollar. They have to pay principal plus interest. They have to repay the debt to their banks. otherwise they will be in default. they have to renegotiate with their banks. their ratings will go for a toss. Only option is to ask money directly from chinese central bank. because of myopic view, pakistan indulged in expensive imports. even now the IMF money is only going to fund current account deficit or repay chinese loans
