I know this is kinda irrelevant but Im re-reading the Darkstalker legends book and as I was reading I came across an alarming discovery (more of a realization). A discovery that makes me kinda glad the Nightwings abandoned the old Nightwing kingdom, Leaving behind some of their inventions and knowledge. The Nightwings had fireworks in Darkstalker’s time. In Chapter 9, page 107, lines 1-3, of Legends Darkstalker, Darkstalker mentions fireworks. this is part of what Darkstalker says to Clearsight a little bit after they meet. “‘Why - why do I feel as though I’ve known you forever?’ ‘Because you have . . . And you will.’ Fireworks! True love and happiness for the rest of our lives” Fireworks implies that the Nightwings had black powder or at least something similar. Black powder means that the Nightwings could have used rockets or non-cactus bombs in the war with the Icewings. Black powder also means the Nightwings could have made cannons and mortars and other artillery weapons. And of course black powder means the Nightwings could have made something like flintlock muskets or pistols (maybe not exactly muskets or pistols but small black powder weapons that a dragon could carry and operate on their own). I wonder if the Nightwings lost their knowledge on how to make fireworks when the Nightwings fled the old night kingdom. And I wonder if any of the ancient scrolls that the Nightwings are trying to copy from the old Nightwing library might have any information on how to make fireworks. I also wonder if any of the other tribes had fireworks and might possibly still have the knowledge to make fireworks. And I normally would consider the possibility of the fireworks mentioned being made with animus magic but the Nightwings didn’t have any animus dragons until Darkstalker. And Darkstalker definitely didn’t make or invent fireworks. I guess that the fireworks could potentially be kinda the same as the some of the first fireworks invented by the Chinese in the 9th century but instead of black powder in a hollow bamboo pipe sealed off on both ends. the Nightwings could have used small pieces of a dragon flame cactus (if the cactus still explodes when it’s been cut into smaller pieces). Although to be perfectly honest I would be more concerned with the indestructible city upgrading from using ballistas (catapults? Idk) against dragons to using cannons, which would be a lot more effective and easier to hit a dragon with. This is the kind of stuff I stay awake at night thinking about. But I would be curious to hear other peoples thoughts and/or theories about Nightwing fireworks. Wow that was a rant i didn’t entirely expect to go on about.
