This song is a hauntingly sad and a beautiful requiem. It’s an incredible piece of art that still holds up. WOW.

This whole song is amazing, but the end and the fade to white is truly amazing. The mood it creates is wonderful. Good job, you two.

Loved the haunting melody soulfully sung juxtaposed over the head-nodding groove; while those somber contemplative chords set the mood! Could feel the emotion of the song even before reading the lyrics. Sublime!

What happens when you die? I'm not religious, but I think/feel that we are all one, the same thing. Maybe the day we die, we'll return to that consciousness. This song makes me think about that, maybe it doesn't have any sense for anyone but it does for me. Not only the lyrics, the music too. Like a big "OM" if you know what I mean. The way that this music connects to me, I think it's a proof of music meaning different things for different people. In any case, thanks for such awesome compositions. Best from Spain.

You really hit the nail on the head. The great thing about music is that many people can derive their own meanings and interpretations. But when someone really understands exactly what you were thinking when you wrote a song, it's a different kind of connection. We wrote this song to be comforting; to remind not just others, but also ourselves, that death is not something to be feared. It is a returning to your original place, a going home. There is no need to fear it; not only have you been there before, it's where you started. And whatever you believe that place is (I tend to think of a collective consciousness, as well), it should be viewed with peace and comfort. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

I've been following y'all for years, and I'm elated to hear this!!! I knew from the covers you two did that when you did your own things they would be wonderful. Fantastic music! And fantastic vocals and views, I feel the same way, in general.

I was just watching a bunch of your old staircase recordings last night saying to myself "when are these guys gonna post something new? It's been a while since Trains n' Smoke"... and here it is! Love it! That skip at 4:52 really made me look twice.

All of your life Has been borrowed time Neither "yours" or "mine" Now it's time To say goodbye to your body and the sky The last lullaby Home, going home Home to the start of it The heart of it Home, going home Where all of your love Grows on, and carries on From all that you leave behind, oh Don't be afraid To let go of all you know Your life Is a small part of you But the biggest truth Is the only home you knew And it will welcome you Home, going home Home to the start of it The heart of it Home, going home Where all of your love Grows on, and carries on Home, going home Home to the start of it The heart of it Home, going home Where all of your love Grows on, and carries on

I gave this one a down thumb. Allow me to explain why... I've been listening to the stairwell duo since last night. It's morning. What originated at acousticals has now magically evolved into multi camera high tech performances. What is being presented here is mindful engineering as well. Im hearing the green new deal. Bumblebees dieing...? No worries. Slip right into the afterlife where it's better than here. Don't bother objecting to what oligarchs have designed to strip us of...just be passive.
