Nice! Always do what works best for you 💗. How many months are you? And it’s definitely worth it. Practice makes perfect when it comes to self maintenance.

I don't trust myself to start my locs but I eventually plan on maintaining them myself at some point.

I am going to start my locs next month. I went to a loctician for a consultation, and they wanted to charge me over $600 for my starter locs.....2 strand twist. I asked about comb coils which was what I preferred and they are charging $330 for that. I still think it's too much but it's a Loc Salon and School, so I know it will be done right and they are charging $150 to upkeep every 4 weeks for the first 3 months.

$600 is definitely a lot depending on the size you’re going for (smaller locs usually cost more). I would say search around for numerous locticians, including ones in areas that you’re willing to go out your way and travel to. It’s also helpful to talk to people who have locs and ask where they went to get there’s started (This is how I found my loctician) Cause for my starter locs I paid somewhere between $175-225. Which was reasonable to me. Also keep in mind that some places are raising prices for many different factors… But I always paid attention to what I am comfortable with. If the work looks worth the money and it provides peace of mind, that’s also something to factor in. I hope this helped! 💕

@@TaylorSymone Thank you for responding. I researched and this was the one I felt comfortable with. The atmosphere is really nice and this loc journey is so much more for me. It is a time of pouring into myself. So I look forward to pass this initial expense and then just focus on the retwist. I went to this other place but the lady was not there, I spoke to 2 ladies I met and they didn't have a loctician. So I decided to go with the one I did the consultation with. The initial meeting was great, I just wish it was cheaper .....but I am determined to not try to be cheap, I want to go with a reputable establishment and as I said it's a Loc school and salon, so I guess that's why.

@@joannamelanie wow I am already having buyer's remorse. The reality is, where I am located I don't have a lot of options. On top of that I already paid a deposit,, that is not refundable.
