You started with God of War 4 (God of War 2018) so you might get confused when the game references Kratos's past. I suggest playing the original God of War trilogy before moving onto God of War Ragnarok which will also Heavily reference Kratos's past, even more than this game.

You have to play or see cutscenes from all the games. Gow 1 2 3 plus chains of Olympus and ghost of sparta. The mini games are actually crucial to kratos way of thinking when u arrive at gow 2. It goes like this if u don't want to be spoiled. Gow1 Ascension, chains of Olympus, ghost of sparta, gow2 and 3.

Tyr was the god of war for the Norse. Kratos was actually the god of strength for the Greeks, Ares was the good of war. Given he was considered evil. Ares was roughly the same god as Mars, the god of war for the Romans, but the Roman god of war wasn't looked down upon.

@@ShesEmma He doesn't respect anyone. Head, boy, dwarf, blue one. Except Freya he calls by name. He respects her. In the end of this video we also heard Atreus call Mimir "Head" when he's getting arrogant about being a god.

You should do yourself a favor and react to a video recappin everything about Kratos' backstory in the previous games. They absolutely WILL NOT spoil anything in THIS game OR Ragnarok, but it will INFINITELY help you understand EXACTLY who Kratos is, why he hates god's, how he got the Blades of Chaos and the scar on his belly.

Please go and watch suggestive gamings video explaining the original saga of games (Greek pantheon) to get his full back story and you’ll understand a lot more of why kratos is the way he is.
