I thought that was a brilliant video, and I'm a West Ham fan. It reminds me of what we lost, moving to a bullshit Athletics stadium.

Thanks Dennis. I wrote 5 months before the move that it would be disastrous, losing your tradition and heritage and, to some extent, your identity. I am not into all this "hate" nonsense as I saw WHU beat WBA 6/1 in 1965 when young and it is still one of the best games I have been to and though I,mercilessly, mock the WHU who have a go at us I really had a soft spot for Upton Park.We lost THe OLD DEN 25 years and it STIL hurts every week..

Im gotta agree nothing will ever compare to upton park!.. Scottish hibs boy.. support a different english team but credit is given where credit is due... nothing will ever compare to the old atmosphere.. i respect all.. when an old school team moves grounds things are never the same... i guess its time to move aside for the new era... these new cats wouldnt know a real rumble if jaws himself jumped out the pacific and bit them on tue arses... Long Live the old ways of football and good times

N.F.F.C. Cracking video and brill music to it .. its nice to see the investment going to change the area around the ground .. BUT .. i liked as it was .. Dangerous , intimidating , you new when you arrived at cold blow lane you were entering " The Lions Den " .. had some good rumbles down at millwall , but also had good days with them at England matches .. keep the video for the memories ..

100% True, my friend. I only missed 6 Home games between Dec 1962 (5/1 V Hull City ) and the final game there in 1993. That includes, of course, the 59 game unbeaten home run ( 1964-66 ) then a Football League record.

Oh how I wish we could go back to proper football.. Before the money ruined it... I remember going to cold blow lane with a couple of mates who were Millwall.. When you had a great run in the cup 80s .. Memory ain't what it was but I think it was wba night game.. I ended up going along to Stamford Bridge with the same lads.. With your lor in the northstand (on a cold night but luckily some thoughtful lads started a small fire or two to keep us warm lol.. Something old bill seemed upset about!! And decided to send a few in to snatch fans out.. It didn't end well for them) beat Chelsea that night.. Then went on to the infamous game at Luton.. Absolute carnage is all I'm saying.. Good memories.. As I recall my mate's the munsters.. Steve and lee also had a greyhound at one time called bushwacker.. They never got rich off it lol.. Nice video though

Most frightening place I've ever been. The Cold blow lane...even the club's address was intimidating. Not a place to get lost with five of your mates wearing the wrong colors
@Isleofskye6 жыл бұрын
Did you mean the OLD Den which was 10 times more intimidating and passionate than this All-Seater morass we now have. You could stand right on top of the pitch and certainly influence proceedings :) That is why MILLWALL broke the League record going 59 Home games unbeaten between 1964-1966 nearly 3 seasons.

You can walk in away football colours or tops no dramas, we dont take liberties. Scarfers need not fear us or families. Stone Island wannabees however come unstuck, MFC. I hope they dont get away with the theft of our ground fucking liberty! Social cleansing of working classes again in London and again sold out by council.

Thanks Richard. To demonstrate what a Home advantage we had back then we lost 22 Away matches during that same period. The number of times the roaring crpwd got us back in the game, when all seemed lost, was considerable :) Good Luck...

Went to old den to see Millwall v west ham late 80's. West ham won 1-0. Most volatile atmosphere ever. Never seen so many police horses and helicopters. Went with a Millwall mate, being a villa fan only game to come close with blues away when Peter Enkleman dropped a bollock.

Went there to the old ground on boxing day morning 77-78 with Spurs. Probably one of the worst decisions of my life! Went alone but paid a fiver at the gate and joined 7000 other Spurs fans in what was an intimidating situation. A few police and one shaky fence kept the two sets of fans apart. Left with a win but outside was pelted from rooftops by women and children as we headed out onto the main road. Only to be charged from the flats by hundreds of locals. Ran lost hurdling garden fences before bumping into someone I knew who pulled us both into a cab. Never again:) It had been made worse by a Panorama special which incited the Millwall fans to defend their territory against recently relegated Spurs.

The "old" Den was a proper away day, we were there 1985 and it was lively, one of many good days out and needing to keep your witts about you. These days, it is another soulless ground like all the new ones, not so much fun going there these days. Millwall won't step foot outside of Bermondsey, not like the old days. shame, shame they still live on their past rep and terrorise family provincial clubs. A sad state of affairs for the once feared Bushwhackers or F-Troop.

No prawn sandwich on offer down Millwall mate, stick to Chelsea or Arsenal where your types are more looked after. If you don't like the look of something and on that basis won't go there, it says more about your character than anything else.
@eddyvideostar6 жыл бұрын
To Martin J: I understand the chastisement concomitant with the character of your comment; but, there are certain things I would not traipse toward if the looks were uninviting. The boot camp would be sufficient enough in its appropriate time and place.
