Your cuticles were probably long, normally they either push them back or trim them, also a hand massage is normal when getting a manicure done, not everyone does it tho.

Disagree so much with the comments saying it’s a hard design to do. Firstly if they are actually trained in acrylic designs, straight lined patterns are the easiest ones. Second if a client asks for a design that you are not experienced enough to complete then simply say that instead of expecting somebody to pay for a smudged and messy looking nail. Also no they should not have cut your cuticle, that’s so bad 😂

yea I'm a receptionist at a nail salon and from my experience cuticles are usually cut off so then the polish would look good and you could ask them to not cut them or they would just push the cuticles back slightly. Also it's not really good to have your cuticles cut off all the time

It’s normal if u get u cuticles get cut bc that helps them not get the acrylic on ur cuticles so the skin doesn’t pull on and ur nails hurt and so they can grow the nail

Mari M no I’m a nail tech and anything hanging over the nail bed once they have been pushing back needs to be removed or you nails will not last as product shouldn’t be applied over dead loose skin

My salon cuts my Cuticles off and I’ve never had a problem with not having them, they also apply an oil after as well! I can imagine how shocked you was though haha!

HI Demi, Your cuticle is non living tissue that forms on the nail plate and can be easily scraped away. It sounds like they have cut the eponychium, this is living tissue that people sometimes mistake for cuticle and shouldn’t normally be cut. Cutting it increases risk of infection and consistently cutting it will cause it to grow back thick and dry given you have bled they might have nipped/pulled the fold at the eponychium. Take extra care to keep the area clean until it heals and then regularly use cuticle oil to keep the area soft and healthy. 🙂

I’m a nail tech and yes the cuticles have to be removed before acrylic application. This makes sure your nails are fully prepped and will last longer.

It is normal for nail salons to take cuticals of so that they don’t go over the fake nail and cause infection due to there being air pockets underneath the nail. But they aren’t ment to bleed. If it bleed s that means they have cut to far down

Yes where my Ma has her nails done she has the cuticle remover, its an extra step in a salon and its normally a sign of a good salon so they say. They normally oil them after your nails are done.
