Enjoy this GREAT SONG from Woodstock era !
PEACE&LOVE !!!
Lyrics :
-I'm going up the country, babe don't you wanna go
-I'm going up the country, babe don't you wanna go
-I'm going to some place where I've never been before
-I'm going, I'm going where the water tastes like wine
-Well I'm going where the water tastes like wine
-We can jump in the water, stay drunk all the time
-I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away
-I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away
-All this fussing and fighting, man, you know I sure can't stay
-Now baby, pack your leaving trunk, you know we've got to leave today
-Just exactly where we're going I cannot say, but
-We might even leave the USA
-'Cause there's a brand new game that I want to play
-No use of you running, or screaming and crying
-'Cause you've got a home as long as I've got mine
btw I've never made this video

I'm 70 years old and I've only been to one concert in my entire life. Got back from Vietnam in 68....grew my hair and beard down to my azz...Hitchiked from Ct. to Calif in the summer of 69...On the way back got a ride from Springfield, Missouri from a bunch of Longhairs from San Francisco going to a Concert in NY state. They Dropped me off in Ct.... and I drove up to Woodstock a few days later to meet up with them ! haha Canned Heat was one of the Groups that I actually remember seeing and hearing !

True story! The 60's and 70's was the best music ever! Everyone knew all the members of each band rather than just the lead singer. They could all play their instruments wickedly! The music back then was such a high caliber that you had to take on the likes of Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Stones, The Beetles, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendricks, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Bob Marley, etc... etc... just to name a few to get to be #1 on the charts! How hard would that be? Playing as a kid before screen time existed was awesome too! Building huts playing in the street and in the bush, no one wanted to go home! Good times! :-)

Do you think the world was just peaches and cream in 1969? Things are a lot better now in a lot of ways. And there are still many people even now who live like the people in this movie did... just peaceful, easy-going people who aren't out to hurt anyone but have a good time. Do you really think they were all good, peaceful people? I severely doubt that. I'm sure there were a lot of scummy types there. Look at us now? What are you talking about? You honestly think things were better back then? Maybe in some ways. If you were white and middle class. This is hardly just good people though. You know how much drugs were going on? Plus it was completely unorganized. People had to go to the washroom, but there weren't nearly enough set up. I bet you anything there were a few women there that ended up sexually assaulted. Maybe some men too. The 60s were hardly a peaceful time. Vietnam was on, so a lot of these people were enjoying this concert meanwhile their peers were being cut down in Southeast Asia. Lots of race riots.

However, the same could be said for so many other groups of those times; CSN, Supertramp, Cat Stevens, Allman Brothers, Brian Wilson’s Pet Sounds, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and many others. Wonderful music. What happened? Where’s the good music gone these days?

I lived in the Haight in 67.68 & 69. From what i remember;~), I had a great time. Always feel a void when I see/hear about Woodstock because I didn't get there. This is a really mellow 7 soothing song. We were "others" back then who sought to separate ourselves from main stream America in some ways and were cool, mellow and peaceful. Unfortunately, those who seek to separate themselves today spell "Haight" as "HATE". There's a song from the 60's which is UNFORTUNATELY fitting for today. That song is "For What It's Worth by the Buffalo Springfield. I'm an old(83) USN vet, an old 60's hippie at heart and, although I am not clean & sober for 39 years, I sill enjoy the "feels' when I see/hear this & other bands.

But shit being stoned and not worrying for the future was the best ever! Get out of your damn midlife crisis, it wasn't better in the old days, atleast not in the western world. Stop crying about the fact that modern music is made by computers, because you know damn well there are still plenty of great groups and artists out there that don't use computers, auto-tune, songwriters.
